My Detroit: Become Human AU concept
I’ve been developing this story in my head for 3 years, and it means a lot to me. Today I finally found the courage to share a tiny piece of it.
This is just a very quick, simple, and rough sketch made on the go, driven by pure inspiration. It’s not meant to be a perfect artwork, just a visual representation of my thoughts and ideas. Please, be kind, this is my first time sharing something so personal.
The Core Idea of the AU:
What if Cole’s mind was successfully digitized and transferred into the RK800 (Connor) body?

I sewed this doll about two years ago, inspired by my favorite childhood character — the Scarecrow from “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” (or Strashila from the Soviet adaptation, “The Wizard of the Emerald City”).
One day I just felt this sudden urge to bring him into the real world.

I wanted to share my new acrylic painting inspired by Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel “The Demons” (also known as “The Possessed”). This piece captures one of the most intense, grim, and heartbreaking moments in the story — the murder of Shatov.
Classical literature has always been a massive inspiration for me. To anyone who has read this book — how did this scene make you feel?
My new acrylic painting inspired by Heavy Rain. I wanted to capture that heavy, dark atmosphere of endless rain and the grim trail left behind.

preferably books w/ little to no sex/smut, unnecessary violence/gore, etc.
but. if you have any suggestions that are either relatively wholesome, utterly emotionally devastating, or just a silly little book that you like the prose of, etc., please do tell
it also doesn’t have to be a full on 500 page book; it can just be a short story, a poem, a novella, etc.

just something that is art; something that you cannot stop thinking about, and that you have to keep going back to because it simply will forever occupy your mind in a positive, thought-provoking way

I would highly recommend "Flowers for Algernon" by Daniel Keyes.
It is my absolute favorite book for a reason. Without giving away any spoilers, it’s a story about a mentally disabled man named Charlie who undergoes an experimental surgery to increase his intelligence. We see the entire world change through his eyes as his mind expands, and later, as he faces the heartbreaking reality of what comes next.
It perfectly fits your request because it doesn't have any unnecessary violence or shock value, but it is utterly emotionally devastating in the best, most beautiful way possible. It deeply questions human empathy, how we treat people who are different from us, and what truly makes us human.
It’s a profound piece of art that leaves a permanent mark on your soul and stays with you forever.
