yabba-dabba-doozie!

Mabel snorted out loud at the girl in front of her, ready to be a part of whatever this was, after having eaten as much as she had herself. “Um, yes? I’m so here for it? You wanna move over a lil bit on that couch or do ya want me to just crawl over you?” She giggled out.

“You look comfortable.” Lottie held her plate in hand before eyeing the spot next to Pebbles. No one was walking near and if they did she was out of the way, “Scoot over.” She held her plate high as she cuddled until the perfect spot was found. 

Pebbles scooched when the other told her to and smiled proudly. She was happy that she wasn’t alone in needing a nice nap before continuing the festivities. “I’m so comfortable. Now you gotta get comfortable. Come in close.” Pebbles eyed the others food and felt her stomach grow yet again. “First or second helpings?”

wendy was very in love with the idea of friendsgiving. she adored the fact that so many people from the island wanted to get together and be thankful for each other. she wanted to host something like this someday. she had brought her homemade mac n cheese because she wasn’t sure what else to bring and once it was out there she was unsure where to go next. she wanted to mingle, but she was feeling surprisingly shy. it wasn’t like there weren’t people she knew; that wasn’t the issue at all. she just wasn’t sure where to start. so she got herself a drink, went as close to the wall as she could and once someone joined her she gave them a small smile.

“enjoying everything so far? it all looks so wonderful….”

pebbles had always been a huge fan of thanksgiving. what other holiday let you eat all the food you wanted without fear of people judging you? thanksgiving was amazing! the girls eyes were wide over the spread in front of her. how was she going to choose what to eat first? a voice caught her by surprise and pebbles laughed in slight relief, “its amazing but there’s too many options! people really brought a whole dang feast! what about you?” 

Louise felt herself blush a little. She didn’t like attention on her appearance because she didn’t recall care about that stuff. It made her a little uncomfy but she didn’t want to tell Pebbles that. “If Sheen isn’t in love with you by now, he;s a dummy.” She looked around the party and nodded her head in agreement. “Not a single Skrillex song in sight. Is it even a real party?”

Pebbles couldn’t help the small bit of laughter that escaped her. “Sheen? In love with me?” Her laugh got cut short, “You think he could be? I mean... some day?” It was one of the nicest things Louise had said to Pebbles. “I know you like aren’t a love fiend and neither am I. It’s why I’m so shit at all this. I mean... isn’t it weird we’re a little bit far off in age? Or that... I don’t know...” The girl sighed. “Ugh. Look at me. I sound so dumb. I sound silly over a boy! A silly, cute, funny, very weird but perfectly weird for me boy. When did I become such a girl? Nows the part where you pull a Revenant on me and we hide out in the woods for awhile.” Pebbles smirked, “A Skrillex girl? How did I not know this about you?” 

“I’m going to need a thicker jacket when winter comes. I’m fucking freezing.” Vicky lit up a cigarette, not caring if the person next to her was bothered by it or not. She inhaled from it and shoved her lighter back into her purse. “It’s mostly the wind that gets to me. Makes my face and neck all red. I’ll need a good scarf too. Maybe there’s a nice boutique on this god forsaken island that sells something decent. Aren’t islands supposed to be warm anyway?”

“I didn’t know it snowed on this island, honestly. It’s sort of surprising. Thought it’d be a tropical paradise the whole time!” Pebbles sighed too before waving the smoke away from her and coughing. “Geez. You tryin’ to kill yourself or something?” The girl shook her head, “I think there’s a small place that sells soft scarves. A friend of mine bought me one and it’s my favorite thing ever.”

Brock was single-minded, on one of his little ‘missions’. Walking up to the stranger, he had to ask. “Hi, yeah, do you happen to know that cute girl over there and what she likes or…” Brock paused. He was now double-minded on one of his missions. “Or what you like works, too, hi.” People needed to stop being cute, he was struggling here.

Pebbles was just trying to enjoy her morning coffee when the boy interrupted her racing thoughts. “That girl--” Pebbles turned her head slightly to look at the girl in question and frowned. “I don’t know. Never met her in my life.” The girl scrunched her nose. “Are you hitting on me after trying to ask me about another girl? Ugh. Men. I swear.” She took a sip of her drink. There was only one man she cared about and he probably only saw her as a friend. 

“I can’t decide if I want to buy Christmas decorations now or later. It’s so hard because I don’t know if dressing up in my cute Christmas outfits will make me a social outcast or not…” She pouted at her peppermint mocha and looked back up at the person she was speaking to. “I love Christmas. It’s my favorite. Because of the snow and all of the baking. But like….I don’t want to look like a loser so….I don’t know. What do you think?”

“Who gives a shit what others think? If you want to wear a Christmas sweater then do it.” Pebbles was munching on a bag of chips. She didn’t understand people who, at their age, could really give so much thought to what people thought of them. They were adults now (or practically adults). It was stupid. “You can always talk about how Thanksgiving is actually an awful holiday and how people are celebrating pilgrims taking over land that wasn’t theirs while also giving a range of diseases to the indigenous people of this country.”

“Okay, so like…Are you good with American Lit, because I think I’ve read this paragraph like seventy times and I have no idea what’s happening.” Part of that could have something to do with the fact that Dash hadn’t read a single word of the book before this paragraph, but whatever. English assignments shouldn’t be this hard.

“That’s probably because you’re getting yourself distracted.” Pebbles noted with a sideways smirk. “But, sure. I guess I can help you out. Give you the gist of what’s happening. That being said you have to do the assignments on your own.”

Pebbles knew exactly who was in front of her. Was it weird if she said she’d know that figure anywhere? In her defense, Louise always stood like she was about to fight someone. Just to throw the girl off, Pebbles stuck her two fingers between her lips and catcalled her best friend then stepped back in case a punch was thrown. “Look at that foxy lady!”

“Well, stranger, I’m not one to gossip…” Sheen laughed, more than happy to play along with her game. “It’s a shame I can’t find her though, you know? And after I went through all the trouble to get her a super cool present. Maybe I should find someone else to give it to. What do you think, stranger?”

Pebbles couldn’t deny that she loved a present. “Woah, woah, woah!” The girl reached out a hand to stop Sheen. “I mean... ugh. Fine. You got me! But no fair pulling the present card! You know I can’t deny presents.” Pebbles lifted her mask a little and stuck her tongue out at the boy before letting her mask fall right back into place. She was sort of bummed he didn’t recognize her - after all she was wearing a DRESS - but another part of her was pleased that he’d know her anywhere. “What’d I do to deserve a present?”
