Imagining it from Garroth's POV is actually so painful.

You help revise the Oath of The Guard to prepare for an impending danger, to protect the people you love. The decision was already hard enough, but it is made more difficult when your Lord, the woman you love, expresses her horror that this newly implemented rule would mean forcing someone she cares about to end his own life.

So for her sake, you keep it a secret. For her sake you turn a blind eye. Just this once.

Years later—after your relationship with the person you were previously warry of transforms from rivalry, to friendship, to something more—you forget about the oath.

Until one night, your heart comes to you, sword in hand, and kneels before you. Begging you to end his life in order to protect the woman you both love. He explains that he is a danger to everything you both swore to protect. He pleads for you to uphold the long forgotten oath on his behalf.

Dread begins to swallow you. The realisation settles in your bones.

The daughters of Phoenix Drop 💚❤️

This started off as a quick warm-up doodle but very quickly devolved into me actually thinking about my headcanons for Lilith-Garnet and Alina (Or Joey in this case)

Alina is now a Laurmau baby (I literally flipped a coin on who got to be the father, and it landed on my man Laurance lmfao). Johannah is named after Laurance's late father (Joh/Johanson) and she's a carbon copy of her mother except for her eyes. Joey's a very chipper and charismatic young girl who carries herself rather elegantly as she takes after Garroth's mannerisms and overall politeness. She wonders about her dad a lot and constantly asks her brother about him, to which Malachi will always cave. That man loves telling stories to his baby sisters.

Lilith-Garnet is the living embodiment of a firecracker. She gets in trouble a lot because of her rather colourful vocabulary that she picked up from all the adults in town, her favourite cuss word being "twat". Aphmau thinks its hilarious. Garroth does not.

Lilith-Garnet kept Aaron's surname because he was the one who initially adopted her before Aphmau took her in after he died. She's set to inherit his longsword once she's old (and tall) enough.

They both ask about their dads a lot, and both Aph and Garroth love telling them stories before bedtime. The two miss their husband and dearest friend a lot, and telling their daughters their stories helps them keep their memories alive.

Joey dreams of becoming a lord just like her mother and brother, and Lilith dreams of being a guard. They made a promise to each other that if Joey ends up a Lord, then Lilith will automatically be her head-guard so they can be there and protect each other for as long as they live.

Based on the official lore entries found in the game's terminal, humanity is down to just a few hundred people split across rival factions. This might be where that person pulled this number. It's not a headcanon. ~700 is correct.

The Consolidation of Iron (C.O.I.): 257 citizens (spread across three space stations and two spacecrafts).

Eden Space Station: 468 citizens (the largest remaining man-made structure, where Simon is from).

Filament Station: 0 (formerly the C.O.I.'s largest station with 62 residents, but it was destroyed).

Bringing those surviving factions together, the entire remaining population of the universe is exactly...

725 people

That's 722 after the events of Iron Lung (2026), if you count the death of Simon, Jack, and Ava.
