ART, LITERATURE, POETRY AND MORE ·
Ray Bradbury never went to college. He spent his youth in the libraries of Los Angeles, reading every book he could get his hands on until he claimed he had finally graduated from the stacks. He believed that the library was the only true university, a place where the soul of humanity was preserved in ink and paper.
He famously observed: A culture dies when people stop reading.
This was not a warning about government censorship, but about the voluntary abandonment of the mind. Bradbury feared that as we moved toward faster, shallower forms of entertainment, we would lose the patience required for deep thought. To him, a book was a living thing—a conversation across time that keeps a civilization sane. When that conversation stops, the culture itself begins to wither.
SHEILA ATIM as Akasha
THE VAMPIRE LESTAT
Marius: anyway Lestat don't worry if this job is extremely tedious and isolating because I was watching these two for decades before they even acknowledged my existence hahaha Marius: so yeah don't be offended if Akasha doesn't like you or talk to you or acknowledge you that's just part of the job Marius: just enjoy the next several years of her withering silence as you wonder whether she even wants you around and what you're doing with your life Marius: ok bye Marius: -leaves- Akasha: -immediately- oh thank god he's gone anyway hi
also this idea that armand and lestat are equally responsible for the trial is like…. wild to me.
like even if lestat somehow evaded the trial, louis, claudia and madeleine would’ve all been killed. whereas if armand didn’t direct the fuckin thing, and lied to louis to entrap them all, they would have all been alive. lestat’s participation (likely unwilling considering there were shots where he seemed to be weak but regardless) was only to save louis. he even tried to get himself killed too (“i broke the second law, when you sentence them, you sentence me too”) possibly bc he wasn’t sure he’d be able to save louis.
