As a minor that enjoys non sexual vore, I find both sides have valid points. And i understand why those outside of the community would worry, especially for the kids here who do not understand that certain adults even in the vore community are dangerous. and we should not discount this danger.

But: this community does have adults that do look out for Minors (The OP for example), and those that don’t, they are a whole other animal that are normally actually shuned from here once it is known what they are.  

the word Vorephilia really should be split up, and that non sexual vore should be categorized differently at this point. Like how the Microphilla and G/T communities are split. 

Minors can come into both communities, of course, but generally speaking they are drawn to the clean side of vore first (even if that’s not their first exposure). The clean side normally  focuses on emotional well being, and a general lack on innocent affection building on a persons mind to the point that they dream about being that close to someone. Those who join this side of the community   are generally welcomed by everyone, and can learn from others directly or though PSA posts about those dangers.

I think the best way to say this is:

if you are outside of the community then YES! preach about safety and to be aware to Minors and Adults!

but NO! don’t vilify the whole community! you don’t know the whole story! And honestly on an issue like this, its severely hard to research (trust me, I’ve tried)

And those outside of the community?? thank you for having good hearts and looking out for us, we do appreciate it!! But in blaming the whole community the message gets lost. 

I do agree that we have to offer a reliable way for children or even adults that like the concept of vore in a nonsexual way to avoid any porn. A way to steer clear of adults that intentionally or unintentionally might drag them into sexual roleplays and stuff.

Either way I’ve been doing some thinking and I’ve got more to say on this post, so I’ll just do it now.

Take a look at the rise of nonsexual furry communities with safe spaces for minors to express their interests. Sure, there are lots of furries into it sexually, but does it make sense to argue that children shouldn’t be exposed to the nonsexual parts of the furry fandom? Of course not. It’s a huge special interest for loads of kids, and a place for them to find community, and something to take comfort in, and there’s not automatically something inherently sexual about all anthropomorphic animal characters just because some other, unrelated folks get off on it sexually.

Vore is the same way. There’s not something automatically inherently sexual about someone getting eaten. It’s just an imaginary scenario that appeals to a lot of people, many of them nonsexually. Those into it sexually don’t somehow make everything else about it sexual just by existing.

Here’s where I believe the lines should be:

If you personally find something sexually appealing, don’t talk to minors about it. that’s creepy.

If a minor has stated they don’t want to interact with adults and you are one, don’t interact with them. That’s creepy.

If you run a SFW blog about any subject, and a minor is okay with interacting with you about something you don’t find sexually appealing, then you can respectfully interact with them.

But lumping everyone in the vore community into the kink bucket and calling them predatory for allowing children into any part of the community isn’t just blind to the complexity of the topic, it’s erasure of the very individual personal experiences of many people within the community. People into vore sexually who make sure not to interact with minors. People only into vore non-sexually (especially some ace folks. Everyone is always erasing ace folks!). People who are into some types/aspects of vore sexually but also have a SFW interest in it, and go to the trouble of running multiple blogs just to keep minors in the community safe (y'all’re angels btw). And yes, kids.

I wasn’t on tumblr until I was 19, but I still think there’s a cautionary tale in my experiences. Ever since I learned the word vore as a young teenager and finally looked up this thing I’d always been thinking about, and saw all the hate and vitriol out there, I had so much shame and loneliness as a result of having no community to share my interest with, or at least to see it portrayed positively in. I wish more than anything that I’d come to tumblr years sooner than I did, but sadly I had no idea there was such a thing as the vore community (besides Eka’s, which in my opinion is not a site minors should ever be exposed to). I finally got on tumblr very recently and it transformed my self esteem around the issue to have a community like this. I think if I’d had that at a younger age I would be a lot healthier now, and I certainly would have been a lot happier then.

That’s why it pains me to think of excluding minors from the SFW vore community. It’s such vital social and mental health resource for so many of them, and there’s no good excuse to take that away. The vore community here on tumblr isn’t hurting minors; it’s helping them. That’s my take and I’m sticking to it.

Even now, I really don’t view vore sexually. Most people I interact with on here don’t. Many people are ace. Some use it as an emotional coping mechanism. To imply that that’s all vore can be, a sexual kink, is weird to many people in the vore community because that’s simply not true.

Having a community for minors who like vore to be a part of can be helpful in the sense that they have a safe space to explore their interests without feeling weird or gross about it. I wish I had such a thing when I was a teenager. Creepy assholes who push sexual stuff onto minors are hated and removed from those communities just as they would be in real life.

I actually started liking vore when I was around 4 years old. I literally drew pictures of scenarios like that because they made me happy. At that point in my life I didn't even think about anything sexual because I didn't even know what sex was. I had to hide the fact that I liked vore because I knew it was weird and I never saw anyone else that liked it too. I buried it deep inside and it kinda started feeling like I was disgusting for liking it.

Now let's think about this. Should all minors have to deal with what I did? Hide something they like thats perfectly harmless to them and others and never know that its normal to like it? I'm not okay with letting minors be down on themselves for something they can't even help and I believe that coming on here and in other places where there's a community of people like them will really help. I know it definitely helped me when I was younger to know I wasn't alone once I found the community.
