Got to go to the 2026 NHL Draft tonight and I had so much fun. Being able to see the round 1 picks really was a once in a lifetime experience. My friend and I cheered for every single guy who got drafted, we made sure absolutely everyone felt celebrated 🙂‍↕️

I was really excited to see Keaton Verhoeff get drafted after researching this year’s prospects. He is the son of a single mother who sacrificed everything to give him as many opportunities as possible and they have a very close bond. My mom and I are the same way. It’s been only my mom and I since I was born but she has never let that stand in the way of me achieving anything I could dream of

Being in the building as his name got called for 9th overall, to a team i love nonetheless, was an incredible feeling. I’ve never met him, but when I tell you I started crying I am being dead serious. My friend just hugged me as I sobbed in the middle of Keybank Center because I feel connected to this random hockey player

Anyways, representation matters, in any form. Seeing myself in Keaton gives me such a boost of hope that all can be overcome. I truly hope kids who have single parents can find themselves in him, because I did and I think it’s so special
