“you’re plenty gorgeous without my help.” she mused, rubbing her thumb against his cheek. a soft breath left her lips as he eliminated the space between them, smirking to mirror the grin that spread across his lips. “i was almost tempted to follow the rules, but when you make something like that the repercussion…” the red head trailed off, her lips lingering closer to his with every word that left her mouth. 

“i’m getting you back to your handsome self, you know that.” she teased, finally tossing the wipe to the side as he gaze moved around her. “i wouldn’t give you a fate as awful as that, even if black and red both look amazing on you.” she pressed her forehead against his, slowly nodding her head as she looked into his eyes. “if i say yes, do i need to get off your lap? because that’s not something i want to do any time soon.” 

violet knew this was all part of who abe was, sitting so perfectly during the application process and squirming around when it was time to take it all off. she ran the wipe along his skin, picking up as much as she could as he scrunched up his face. “baaaabe, i can’t leave you looking like this.” she grabbed onto his chin, squishing his cheeks a little to hold him in place. “you look better than batman, we’re getting you back to bruce wayne. im almost done.” she reminded him, finishing up on the other side of his face. 

“mmm,” grumbling for the sake of grumbling, he peeked one eye open, “i dunno, babe. i think you just tried to make me look like nic cage in kick ass.” teasing as ever, his hands draped around her waist, abraham settled into the touch of her makeup wipe, pressing his lips together as he turned his head a little. “or mclovin’. his costume is a little more shitty 2010 black and red emo, totally fits my vibe.” laugh passing his lips, he gave her a gentle squeeze, pulling her closer against him. “are you done, yet?”

avalon hadn’t payed enough attention to her brothers as she should, it’s true, she couldn’t remember the last time she saw abraham smile. a pang of indignity wells up in her stomach, avalon’s aware she hadn’t been the best sister, to abraham or blythe, all having their hardships as kids. it’s a shame it took such a long time for her to realise such. the walsh associate lets out a humoured bout of air, looking down at her coffee, “a temporary tattoo, maybe.” 

“did you try and add trolley wheels to a casket, or was that one of the others?” a smile dances upon her lips, pushing a lock of stray hair back behind her ear. “i’m pretty sure my friends and i used a broken casket lid to sled down a hill of snow. mum was furious.”

“i hear crayola has some good non-toxic markers.” he teased, bringing the plastic rim of the coffee cup to his lips. knocking back a slow sip, the sweetwine let his elbows rest on the tops of his thighs. “nah, the casket was mal. he’s the mechanic, remember. i was the one that used the old, rusty gurney from the morgue to surf on at the skatepark and i dislocated my shoulder when i fell off and bodied the bench.” grinning at the memory, abraham shook his head. “dad was so pissed, i swear to god he had fun popping my joint back into place.” 

his thumb and forefinger came together to pinch the bridge of his nose, a hard sigh heaved as his eyes fell shut. words bled together, jumbled and tired as he tried to make sense of another page of court proceedings. in addition the bulk of the work he did for the vasile family, he also stood to deal with normal issues. the recent explosions at the theatre, of which he was an active participant, and the art gallery, of which he was actively annoyed by, stood to pile more and more work onto his shoulders. fuck this.  papers gathered and tucked away, gabriel made his way down the stairs and into the kitchen, moving into the fridge for a bottle of water, hoping the cold would wake him enough to get him home. eyes blinded from the bright light inside of the refrigerator, bottle of water in hand, gabriel froze, peripherals hinting to the presence of a figure in the shadows.  “lav,” he breathed. who the hell else would it be? “what the hell’re you doing?”
