The Monstrumologist

although i’m certain no one’s going to care about this, i’m going to post this as it’s been going through my head long enough and i just have to say it out loud now

so i’ve had this blog for practically six years now, and I’ve loved every moment of being on here. that said, for the longest time, at least on alice’s blog here, i’ve felt such a...lack of motivation. i don’t know why, but it pains me to say that. i loved being on here, but just have no true passion to be on here.

with that being said, i think it’s time, to give this girl one last go, and remake Alice’s blog entirely. Move the entire thing and give her a fresh start. go back to the fandom I originally started out in in hopes that i become inspired again. just because i’m hoping that maybe going back to the first fandom i started off with will help revive my muse and bring her that light and attention she has been lacking for so long!

    “That’s very kind of you to say, but I’m sure that I am a little rusty. Though you’re right that it’s not much about peoples abilities that is their demise. We are always chasing unfair circumstances. Kind of what we do, I suppose.”

  Curiously, she walks over and peers at the liquids, never having seen anything quite like it before especially in the context of vampires. She wanted to ask what it was, but she figured the woman would explain it anyway. Keeping her senses elsewhere, there was not any signs of any other vampires yet but she knew that there were still more to take care of in this town. She had never seen a town quite this plagued.

    “Well, thank you. I really appreciate the help. Start thinking about where you want to eat because I’m always very indecisive with that kind of thing.”

     ‘ Darlin’ girl, if tha’ isn’ the most truest thing anyone could ever say, ‘ the monstrumologist remarks softly, crack of a smile being sent in the other girl’s direction. Alice was impressed with Raisa’s view. Most young hunters she’s come across haven’t come to that level of maturity. It’s refreshing.

     F or a few moments, the ginger remains quiet, keeping her hands busy by bottling up some of the blood that still dripped on her machete into a free vial. Making sure none dripped on any of the open cuts Alice had managed to get while pushing past tree branches to get here. And though typically she ignores those that get curious about her actions-clearly shown by how Raisa’s staring-she decides to indulge the other just a tad. 

                       Maybe she’d be one of the few hunters to see value in her line of work.

     ‘ If yer wonderin’ what ‘m doin’, just know it’s part o’ my line o’ work. ‘m not a ‘unter, but rather, a monstrumologist. Someone who studies everythin’ about beasties an’ such, ‘ Alice started off, glancing to the girl once more.

    Had to keep his head above water somehow. Plus, he loved that he could get a crack of a smile out of the girl that obviously prided herself on her prickly nature. Not that that was necessarily a bad thing. Being too nice in today’s world really got you in trouble. Jack certainly knew that from personal experience.

     With a smile, he pushed a couple of bottles of water over her way with a glass. “Didn’t know you’d want to work after buying a whole bottle….” Though he wasn’t one to judge. Sobering her up in a bit would be the best course of action in his mind anyway.

     “I am, I do… enjoy this. Best I can in this dark town. But I’m ready to sail to Haiti the second the time is right.”

     T he smallest of chuckles leaves past her at the retort, knowing how most would find it ridiculous to work after consuming as much alcohol as she had. If the newest job weren’t so terribly important, and there weren’t as many lives as risk as there were, Alice probably would’ve drank her heart out still and crashed at the hotel she was staying at. 

     A nd though it’s not the smartest decision to delve into local folklore and newspaper reports to look for clues on her next case while having a slight buzz, the monstrumologist knows that she’ll eventually sober up once her all nighter begins. Or at least that’s what she’s hoping. 

“News flash, Scot, hunters are the most redneck Americans you’re gonna find. We are the beer drinking, shot gun loving, maniacs the whole world has come to stereotype us as, and we couldn’t be happier!” Says the girl who’s father was pretty much the spitting image of what white-midwest-america was all about. 

But the comment about not going to school, that actually made the huntress lose a bit of her smile. “He seriously pulled you out of school? I’m all for hunting and family business sort of stuff, but the idea of doing that to your kid just puts a bad taste in my mouth, y’know?      I may have been helping my dad with research since I stepped foot in the Salvage yard, but I was always told my real life, the one everyone else around me saw, was the most important. He let me decide, and he made sure I had as close to a normal upbringing as I could get. Though, I didn’t go to school dances, or football games or any of that shit–”

Which was true. Griffon had a more normal upbringing than some of the other lineage hunters, but by most people’s standards of normal? She was far from it. Still the freak at school, still the outsider, the loner. But it was normal. Healthy.

“You say you’re not american, but I swear the words that just came out of your mouth sound like you’re referencing an episode of Spongebob Squarepants.”

     ‘ Newsflash, redneck,’ Alice starts in a teasing tone. ‘ ‘m Irish, not a Scot. We’re different in every way, shape, an’ form. Don’ confuse tha’ ever again, ‘specially in front o’ a Scot, got tha’ ? ‘ll let it slide the once, but confuse tha’ again, doll face, an’ I won’ let it go. ‘

     ‘ An’ as far as the schoolin’ thing goes, I never even attended school in the first place. So, I don’ feel like I missed out on anythin’ . Besides, most kids are stupid as feck, an’ I can’ stand the majority o’ the ‘uman population. In the end, stayin’ far away from any government buildin’ tha’ stuffs kids with teachers tha’ aren’t paid jack shite an’ tha’ ‘ate their lives t’ an unhealthy point was the best choice fer me.  ‘ 

     T here might have been a small part of her that views her opinion differently. A small, regretful desire to have at least experienced one year in what the vast majority of the human race would have viewed as ‘normal’. Maybe Alice could’ve broken away from this life and done better for herself. Though, she doesn’t dare dwell on such ludicrous thoughts anyways. Especially in front of an individual she’s yet to get a full opinion of.
