i think so much about varl finding aloy after the hades proving lab and not only carrying her to safety, but successfully negotiating with zo to let them stay in that utaru village until aloy recovers. what a good man. what a brilliant man. what a smart, kind, compassionate, brave, wonderful man.

The worst part was, I thought it meant he was spying for Sylens. That somehow Sylens had hacked Varl’s focus to tell him where she was, and therefore recruiting him slowly. Like occasionally Varl would joke about the way Aloy took all the responsibility and no help and I would be like...is this Sylens’s opinion about Aloy thinking she knows best coming out? Is this Varl fucking me over?

It wasn’t until I played through his death that I realized...oh no. oh nooo. that was just a good guy doing a good thing.

um.

Without going into the nasty backstory, I’m back on my fandom bullshit, reediting the fic to solidify some of the bare bones. I’ve just done chapter six, should hopefully have chapter seven within two weeks. I should catch up to the original in the near future.

Good news is, I’m a better writer now! Plot, structure, purpose...I’m much more confident and comfortable in crafting my narratives.
