As summer is unfortunately slowly coming to an end it’s time to prepare for a hot girl school year and semester. Having a hot girl semester to me means being organized, studious, consistent, disciplined, motivated and looking hot doing it 💅🏾💕. Beauty 🎀and brains 🧠. We’re getting good grades, handing in our assignments early, being on top of everything and being THAT student.

Organization and Productivity:

Get an academic planner or just a general planner when you get your syllabus for your classes write all your due dates and assignments.

Notion is an amazing app for productivity and organization. Especially for school. There’s academic templates like due dates, grade calculators, study notes and etc. you can customize and make everything your own add pictures and designs to make everything look cute.

Download your required apps. Some schools may require you to download grammarly, Microsoft teams or etc. read your syllabus and make sure you download everything required before hand and make accounts.

Create a back to school shopping list. Essentials needed for school ( eg. backpack, purse, laptop, headphones, tablet, dorm items, textbooks, stationary).

Motivation and Discipline:

All the mood-boards on my blog are motivation I try to make them for all majors, to be able to print out and place in your school binders, or use as screen savers to look at, to get you started when you feel like giving up. Remember why you’re doing this. When it gets hard remember the goal, your future self and the lifestyle and career you want.

We all know Legally Blonde is THAT Movie, it’s great to watch before the school year. I like to watch it before each semester because even though it’s fictional we can all learn a lot from Elle woods. Her determination, her discipline and motivation we see that brought her success. “ I’m going to Harvard, I don’t need back ups”“ What like it’s hard?” “ I’ll show you how valuable Elle Woods can be”

Motivation is the start, discipline keeps you consistent. Sometimes you may be lazy or don’t feel like studying but you need to get into a routine and form habits that you do everyday to keep you in a consistent cycle. It takes 21 days to form a habit. If you create a routine and a schedule after a while it’ll become a natural thing for you.

Study Techniques:

Active recall

pomodoro technique (study with Elle woods pomodoro technique)

Flash cards

Listening to recorded lectures

Reflecting on what you took from a lesson and writing down everything you remember ( mind map)

Teaching what you learned to someone

Study Habits:

Putting away your phone or putting it on DND mode

Cleaning and organizing your space prior to studying

Making sure you study on a full stomach or snack while studying

Studying in a quiet calm space

Studying to learn and understand, not just memorize

Having group study sessions or study dates

Physical Appearance:

Physical appearance is important. When you look good you’ll feel better. It’s about confidence and self esteem. Presenting your best self. A new school year a is fresh start. Buy a new wardrobe, a new bag, new accessories. Upgrade your appearance, upgrade your style. Back to school shopping is my favourite, it’s so refreshing and cleansing in a way. After summer, a back to school glow up is essential.

As much as it’s annoying to do, for online school looking good and turning your camera on during class meetings and lessons is important. It lets your professors get a better impression of you and they will remember you more. Because of pretty privilege it’s possible physical appearance can = better grades in school. Look presentable for online classes as much as you would for in person and you’ll see a difference with the relationship between you and your professors and your grades. But of course you can’t just rely on that alone you need to also do the work.

Multitask beauty regimes and studying. Study at the salon while getting your hair or nails done, study while doing a face mask and waiting for it to dry, listen to lectures while at the spa or getting your eyelashes done. Don’t neglect your beauty regime and appointments because of school. You can do both or schedule time do complete both.

Mental health and well-being:

Be aware of accessibility services and accommodation services within your school like counsellor, social workers, child and youth workers and tutors and book appointments in advance or as needed.

Talk to your professors about extensions on assignments for when you feel overwhelmed or alternative spaces to do test if available.

Practice stress relieving habits like exercising, going on walks, deep breathing, journaling when feeling overwhelmed and under pressure.
