before he could pull his laptop out, a familiar voice met his ears. shit. he shouldโve known better than to expect a continuation of their avoidance when they were mere feet from each other, but dammit if he wasnโt hopeful. the guilt over his actions that led to the hasty, unceremonious dumping heโd laid upon her ate away at him, through his two years in guyana and subsequent years at yates. heโd thought of himself as a decent person for most of his life, but a decent person wouldnโt sleep with their girlfriendโs brother. that night had been his lowest point even before the infidelity, but there was still no excuse. maybe this was the universeโs way of forcing him to make up with her, or come clean, or something other than pretend she didnโt exist. that was the cowardโs way out. steeling himself, he turned in his seat and gave her a tight smile โ โ he ignored the way his heart kicked up a beat; call it โold habits die hardโ or whatever. โhi,โ he drawled, an eyebrow raised as if to ask if they were done.
ximena couldnโt help but contemplate unleashing her pent up rath upon hearing kingโs lousy greeting despite having come to terms with his sudden upheaval from her life years ago. yeah it was exactly what she had asked for, but definitely not what she deserved considering the circumstances of their relationship โ โ or lack thereof โ โ to one another. instead ximena settled back into her seat with the decision to let their conversation end at that, his expression making it abundantly clear that he wanted the interaction with his ex to end.ย โsee, that wasnโt difficult at all,โ she muttered under her breathย bitterly not caring if king heard her or not. the boy in front of her was unrecognizable, his disdain towards ximena palpable and unbearable as she watched him with distant eyes. the realization that maybe king was right in ignoring her all this time suddenly hitting her like a ton of bricks. so instead of settling for this awkward tension between the two, ximena quickly began to gather her belongings just as the professor made his way into the classroom.ย โi take it back. this is extremely difficult,โ she muttered once more, before picking up her bag and swiftly shuffling out of the row and towards the exit. what did it matter if she missed the first class of the semester anyway?ย
