an unfortunate and very contemporary phenomenon is that of the transmasc content creator, often a vtuber, forced to compromise with a tepid "any/all pronouns" or remove any mention of it whatsoever, to see regular success without being bogged down by people unwilling to learn.

while it's true that transfems experience the same sort of constant assault on identity, the transmasc experience is unique in that there is a fundamental dismissal of it in the minds of bigots. the idea that because they were born one way, they cannot be a threat, only misled. bigots (and most well-meaning people honestly) just ignore them before they think to destroy them.

invention is the mother of the whores on television

subversion of the phrase "necessity is the mother of invention", but it's a clever way of saying "what the rich and famous broadcast of themselves to the world is very closely calculated." a made up character can't have a mother, as they came from invention.

"Watch them lose their tales, cut their ropes, then flee"

cool as fuck line about how celebrities avoid accountability and shed the skin of the person they were pretending to be when they're caught doing something they shouldn't be, but ALSO because it brings up the imagery of a lizard losing its tail at a sign of danger which is a really great metaphor for that

observe me whine about the fame and call me Bo, the Creator

on tiktok ive gotten a lot of comments comparing me to these two, and i think it's fitting for this song that these are both artists who talk a lot about serious things while being silly, but also they complain about their fame more than any other celebrities i can think of. makes this line work well.

my god these lines have like 7 different meanings im SO proud of them... but to summarize my favorite parts:

(most obvious) do not put your trust in celebrities because they only show you what is beneficial to them.

(semantic reading) the celebrities you look up to are abstractions of reality projected onto a screen. what youre hearing isn't my voice, it's data sent at the speed-of-light from a server, up to a satellite, and down into your computer.

because of the amount of time it takes light to travel from stars to earth, there are many stars we see in the night sky that are not there anymore, even though we can still observe them.

so, it starts with PATHology, leading into the line about walking on me. this is a basic pun to start us off.

this leads into a play on "mapping out topography", which means to precisely measure and record the surface of a region. in this case i replaced the word topography with typography, changing the meaning of the sentence to "make sure you fully understand my lyrics before you challenge me."

there's also the addition of the modifier "landmine". this fits into BOTH interpretations of the sentence; in the mapping version it implies that you should carefully watch where you're walking when you're in a region with landmines. in the lyrical version, it means my lyrics are the bomb hehehehehe get it?
