Was that seriously what he thought? After everything, after the months of showing this new side of him? The side that he promised not to share to anyone since high school?
He was angry, more-so at himself than Xander, he couldn’t blame him, for he knew what happened back in high school, having both shared similar experiences. He knows he could be quite teasing but he didn’t expect Xander to truly take it to heart
He hated that, he hated leaving Xander with the assumption that it was all fake.
A part of him wanted to scream, to yell out his affections and how he truly meant to him.
But that’s not what he needed right now, he didn’t want to startle him
He took a deep breath to compose himself before he finally spoke
“Oh Xander..” he whispered
“That’s bullshit and you know it, Xan..couldn’t be further than the truth” he tilted his chin to face him.
He didn’t want to say this out of fear he might mock him later, thinking back to what he said prior to when they first started dating
god he was such an idiot! Why did he insist on keeping his ego in check? And for what? The cost of his boyfriend’s self esteem? His doubts?
“Look..I know I can be quite- harsh at times but truth be told?”
He took a deep breath, almost hesitating to speak, breaking the silence with a cough
“Xander..I loved you from the start, like- loved you, ever since we met during practice and..I tried..I tried so damn hard to convince myself what I felt for you wasn’t real cause..”
He looked down bashfully, his face going red.
“I didn’t actually think you’d like me back..”
