My mom with Pico mountain in the background; #5 out of 8 of my small scale community/ peer paintings. Like many kids with traditional parents I grew up under some strict gender roles, but I understand my mom adopted this way of thinking from the way she grew up as well as everyone in the community she grew up in. It’s hard to believe in gender equality when inequality has been normalized to the point where you seem crazy for believing in it. Nobody’s perfect but opening your mind to a new perspectives, challenging old beliefs is the first step, and Im glad me and my mom can now be on the same page. #feminism #genderequality #woodpanel #acrylicpaint #mixedmediapaper #picoisland #picomountain
