post 5.0, rowan and g'raha spend a lot of time together in their shared downtime, and they are often spotted around the crystarium and lakeland walking together or perhaps having a picnic. while they are not actually in a relationship yet in spite of g'raha confessing, their feelings are 100% requited, and this time together sort of turns into unofficial "dates". basically everyone involved in the crystarium's government is fully aware of these two fawning over each other, lyna especially, but are thrilled by this turn of events. and the rumor mill swirling with talk of the warrior of darkness and crystal exarch's blossoming feelings somehow never reaches its subjects (thanks to lyna, the scions, and other crystarium officials.) they definitely get caught kissing a few times, though.

i do want to add more to my ongoing series on ao3 at some point, so this will be included!
for context: terra, aqua, and ven start out at a small shatterdome under eraqus, who's the marshall there. eraqus starts moving things so aqua will be set to take over as the new marshall in his place, and ven will pilot with terra in her place. but, since their shatterdome is so small, it can only house the one jaeger and its crew. if ven isn't on that crew, he has to leave. eraqus is trying to not panic the others, so he swore aqua to secrecy about it. also, their jaeger is called wayfinder, at least for now (i wanted to use the name of a keyblade like i have been for the other jaegers (way to dawn and destiny's embrace are the first two mentioned!) but it felt wrong when this was the jaeger for the wayfinder trio!)

She can feel Terra probing at her mind more aggressively than usual--almost hungry to meld their thoughts together. Aqua has to admit that she is desperate for the feeling of their connection. Itβs been longer than usual since they Drifted last, since before she had to start learning the administrative duties being given to her and Terra began keeping his distance in his quiet anger with her secrets.
The thought of that secret--the words told to her in confidence, about Venβs place in their Shatterdome, drift to the front of her mind in an instant. She lays it bare for Terra to see, a quiet apology for her silence in the past weeks.
She feels more than sees Terraβs head whip to find her. Aquaβs eyes open to find Terra hurriedly shifting forward, hitting mute on the connpodβs microphone, and staring at her.
βThatβs why?β Terra asks, voice strained. His brown eyes are wide, shifting minutely as he studies Aquaβs face. βBecause if you donβt, Ven willβ¦β
Aqua takes a breath, hoping her eyes wonβt well up the way she knows they so easily could. Without words, she tells him, I wonβt lose either of you--and that is a promise.
Terra studies her for another long moment--through the Drift, Aqua knows how angry heβs been with her. How he hated that she refused to tell him what was going on. But heβs missed her, too, so dearly missed her, and has already forgiven her.
She wished the kaiju would just vanish, so she could throw herself into his arms and kiss him the way sheβs wanted to in the weeks that he wouldnβt let her. She misses the feeling of his body against hers; the warmth of his larger, stockier frame holding her. Terra has missed her just as much, has missed her laugh, her hand held in his.
Later, they remind each other. They can make up for lost time later.

also, posted a quick update for my ryukita fic in the same vein as my other WIP fic.
hi everyone! sorry to surprise everyone subscribed to this fic or watching it, no new chapter just yet--it IS in the works though! the entire rest of this fic has been roughly outlined for actual literal years, i'm just an idiot and don't get to work on it as much as i should.
as you can guess by what palace was the subject of the last chapter, i am currently writing the chapter focused on the casino/sae's palace, which is one of the more complex sections of the game overall. as mentioned above i do have everything outlined already, but it's hard to make the jigsaw here fit together while also keeping to the rhythm/style that's been established while also keeping things fresh (and particularly being careful about not veering too much into things other ryukita writers have done, which i've been worried parts of this fic already do. but c'est la vie!). i also have kind of a strict personal standard for things i want to post (which is rich coming from someone who does not use a beta reader at all) in addition to the complexity of what's in the current chapter, so you can probably imagine the difficulty i've set myself up with on this one.
i don't currently have a plan for when updates will be out--obviously my brain has been on other things, the past couple years have been a bit of a nightmare for me, i'm also writing other things, and currently adjusting to a new job--but i hope to have more time to write overall in the future. i really appreciate all the attention this fic has gotten, and i want you all to rest assured that ryuji and yusuke are absolutely going to finish their collection and be happy. i just want to ensure that i am delivering a fic that is worthy of the praise it's gotten, if that makes sense. i know that fanfic is free and all that...but i want to be sure it's the best quality that it can possibly be, and that's resulted in the years since the last update.
i have one other WIP fic, so i'll be alternating between them, but i am hoping that i finish this one soon for yall!

i am also currently in the process of deciding if i want to go ahead with rewriting parts of the first two chapters, and possibly combining them, in the future. as i finished mapping out where i wanted this fic to go, i recognized the quality of the two posted chapters is not entirely up to my personal standard for things i want to post (which is rich coming from someone who does not use a beta reader at all) in addition to the changes i want to make for everything to flow smoothly.
what does that mean for this fic overall? well, it may mean that i remove this posting of the fic and repost it under the same title with basically everything else the same. i'd feel weird removing one chapter only if i combine what's been posted here already, so i may decide to delete things and start fresh if i do end up combining things. if that does end up being the path i choose, i will provide another update for those who want to download or hold onto this old version.

With the rise of AI and the well known epidemic of AI companies scraping Ao3 for training data most authors on Ao3 have locked down their fics to logged in users only. This is unfortunate for authors and readers. As an author I've noticed a steep drop in readership on fics restricted to logged in users and when recommending fics to my friends I've noticed that the folks without an account can't find the fics. The logged in users only toggle, not only keeps people without an account from reading a fic, but also from seeing its listing at all. More than 50% of fics I come across have this setting turned on.
So, you should get an AO3 account. I know this seems daunting and unfair because it's an invite only system but, you can invite yourself through the homepage if you don't already have one, and in the past few years I've never heard of someone who requested an invitation through this method, not getting one.
And for those of you who are hesitant because you don't write, that's okay. It's not weird at all to click on a commenter username and find that they have 0 works and 10,000 bookmarks. It might take a week for the invitation to actually show up, but I can almost guarantee you will get one, just keep an eye on your email.
It's free to join and donations are optional. You'll have more to read if you have an account and maybe give your favorite author the chance to protect their work from AI without a loss of readership and feedback.
