Dsmos Spoilers

Still haven’t seen anyone actually complaining about the lack of cameos. Just people complaining about people complaining. Lots of people even seem to be of the opinion that the cameos were done badly and/or shouldn’t have been included at all.
SPOILERS
Minor scenes that in my opinion perfectly captured the terrible dsmom writing:
- the weird ass memory projection device. Why is it there in this random ass river spot so you accidentally step on it? Why does this exist in the first place and who would want this, especially since the memories seem to be subconscious/random? Flashbacks would have resolved this way better, but honestly neither scenes were actually important to the story at all. The memory device is just there for plot, yet it doesn’t even acomplish that. America‘s parents get brought up again, yet they don’t appear to be any main motivation (considering surviving is kinda ENOUGH). Stephen‘s memory also just feels so… overall unimportant. Yes, yes, the watch, which leads me to:
- the damn tunnel and watch+door scene. Besides the "did she stop? Lets stare at the door for 10 seconds til she breaks through" cliche horror attempt moment which was just so stupid and forced, opening the door to the Book of Ashanti room just... God. You didn’t give us any time to fully make the connection to the watch, Christine just yells "Stephen!" and holds up the watch (that we didn’t even know was in her posession) in the most unnatural way ever, so we can make the connection after she has already solved it. This isn’t how you write puzzles. The setup was terrible, the solution was obscure and outside of the audience’s knowledge. It didn’t feel like a payoff "Ohhh, I see!!" moment, it was a "Oh, they even had that? Wait, why would this work, what is so special about this watch that you‘d have to only use this as a key? Is it magic or couldn‘t you just press down some pressure mechanism then?" . Honestly, I‘m wondering if I misremember this or fell asleep on accident because I can’t understand why you would write this. Just make it a real magic door or even a regular door and nothing would have been different. I get the watch & Christine symbolism they tried going for, but it felt badly executed. Good in theory, not fleshed out.
- very minor, but when Christine used the DIY magic flamethrower against the spirits. I thought that was such a cool idea and could show her wits, but nope, she had to throw in the very obvious 'written by a screenwriter' line of "go back to hell!" or whatever. Just took me really out of the cool moment. I can forgive a lot of cheesy lines, but my god, some screenwriters and especially Waldron need to go observe some humans. You can write cool scenes without needing to verbally remind the audience this is cool. You have Raimi as a director. It‘s gonna look cool, don’t worry.
- not a scene itself, but I always try to do the Bechdel test with whatever movie I watch, aka 2 female characters talking together about something other than the main male character or their love interest. But honestly… this movie barely had any real dialogue. They just kept repeating the same thing over and over again, usually falling on deaf ears. Yes, Wanda, you‘re a mother. We get it. Yes, literally every person talking to Wanda, she won’t be happy, WE GET IT. America and Stephen occasionally talked about something different, but man, please try to actually give your characters real moments together. Even the memory scene could have actually worked if it wasn’t just a "wow, I guess that happened to you!" thing. Very frustrating.
Please never let Waldron touch anything ever again. I loved the Raimi influence, the cinematography would have been my favorite in the mcu perhaps. But man did the writing just fuck everything up. No character development, America didn’t even feel like she had any personality besides "teenager", Wanda went through the same arc for the third fucking time. Pacing was awful, feeling both rushed yet underwhelming in the end. Having jumpscares and mild gore doesn’t make something horror, it felt cheap. Absolute irrational character behavior. The ending was so unclear and random. People yelling "it’s a Raimi movie before an mcu one!!!" yet you need to be familiar with all the (partially unnamed) characters or half of this doesn’t make any sense. I‘ve seen better fanfiction.
Sooo…. MoM fucking sucked lmao

I love Moon Knight so much, but I‘m fully preparing for a Loki finale. I don’t think there‘s a way to wrap this story up in a satisfactory way in a single episode now. I understand why they do it for weekly releases, but I feel like the forced/confined formula of "every episode needs to end on a cliffhanger or grand revelation without solution" fucks up a lot of the overall pacing of these shows.
Also moonknight good. The bar after Loki and Eternals was so low, I kinda lost enthusiasm for future projects. But man, spider-man and moon knight are, future trailers look good. Looking forwards to the MCU again. Can‘t wait for She-Hulk, pls don‘t mess her up…
Honestly after all these years still coming to tumblr for watching fandom content. Love Twitter, but goddamnit is it 2015 tumblr 2.0, Tiktok is even worse. Someone getting cancelled for not being enthusiastic enough about Stony ffs… The only thing I have to deal with here is some middle aged women being upset by going on monsterfucker tags and seeing monsterfucker content lmao at least that’s funny. never change, tumblr
How dare they.
Why do I see more people complaining about people complaining Sylki, than actual people complaining about Sylki? Y‘all are just as dramatic as the strawmen you‘re fighting

also, i would just like to say that marvel has turned me into a spoiled brat now. like how dare you make me wait until AUGUST ELEVENTH for new content. that is far too long. kevin feige, off with your head.
a moment of silence for Stephen Strange, who is going to spend the rest of his life doing overtime shifts in order to clean up this disaster <3
// Loki Spoilers
Yeah sorry, but that finale sucked. I don’t mind cliffhangers, but that episode felt like 40 minutes of reapeating "you can kill me but then chaos and bad me or you can take my place" over and over again and then in the last 5 min seeing some sort of consequences. It didn’t feel impactful or actually terrifying, just empty "yeah, I know, I could tell by the time left on the screen you weren’t gonna give us more and it‘s gonna be a second season".
very busy week for me, here’s another gift from patreon in the meantime

BLACK WIDOW (2021) dir. Cate Shortland
Not to be one of those people, but now I completely understand why some male reviewers were saying they didn’t connect with the quieter, character scenes of Black Widow. I’ve heard guys say they thought those moments fell flat or just didn’t impact them.
Of course they don’t understand the bond of sisters. The unspoken understanding women have with each other. Even women who have never met before.
They don’t understand being the most expendable resource of the world.
