wyanniefynâ:
Annie toke a while to understand what the girl was saying, since she wasnât still used to speaking in Korean just yet, Annie just nodded acknowledging. Instead of waiting at the door, she felt free to enter the place to be able to talk more comfortably and get closer to her. Being in a new city wasnât a problem to Annie, since she was used to travel a lot with her teammates. The only difference is that she is alone now. She could tell a lot of funny stories to anyone that is curious.
As Annie was getting ready to reply, someone had opened the door and entered. Following his steps with her eyes, she soon understood that it was a worker, so she just relaxed. âYou are very kind, I just hope it wonât get you in trouble. I will try to be as fast as possible, I promise.â She answered with a simple smile.
She takes note of the other taking a while to reply, but decides not to comment on it. The other woman seems to be Korean, but for all Jieun knows, she could be new to the country as well as the city. âAh, no need to worry about that,â she assures the woman after she voiced her worries. âIâm the manager here, so I canât really get into trouble,â she laughs.Â
âGive me one second and Iâll be ready to come with you,â she says, holding up one finger before she hurries into the backroom. Her co-worker is already there, getting ready for his shift. âIâm going out for a second, call me if you need me,â she tells him, to which he replies with a firm nod. Once thatâs cleared up, she grabs her coat, going out to meet the woman waiting for her.Â
âAlright, Iâm all set! You ready to go?âÂ
wymoonlianâ:
Lian should have expected that if she was going to be blunt and honest, the other girl would too and so, with that, the cat was out of the bag. âRightâŚâ she said, her voice trailing off and a slight frown appearing on her face.
It was crazy to think how much had changed between the two of them, they had never been like this before. They had been much closer but the girl in front of her now was not the same girl she had known before.Â
Did Jieun think the same way about her too? A part of her was curious to know the answer, but another part told her that it was best not to ask such questions.Â
Lian nodded when the other answered her question, and for a moment, it was as though things were normal again, but as much as Lian wished this, she knew it wasnât. Even if certain things had been different, Lian was sure the two would have still ended up here because of the one, single, event which she was sure was what was making things so tense and awkward between the two now.
âIâmâŚokay too,â she said, offering a small smile. âIâm just working and justâŚyou know, same old, same old. Everything is the same.â
âThatâs good,â she replies, offering a smile of her own. It feels forced, to some extent, as their conversation hasnât gotten over the initial awkwardness. She wasnât sure if the two of them ever could get past their awkwardness, considering past events. Itâs a pity, really, that a stupid mistake ruined a friendship to this extent.Â
âWhat do you work with?â The question shouldnât be necessary. The two used to be close, they had known almost everything about each other, and now Jieun doesnât even know what her old friend does for a living. Sheâs embarrassed as she realizes she canât even remember if the older ever told her about any of her own ambitions, Jieun having been too occupied with her own back then. Still is.Â
âI work a lot, too.â She nods along with her own words. âStill at the same salon. But hey, I manage the place now, so Iâve been making progress.â She laughs, attempting to lighten the conversation, ridding it of some of its awkwardness, though sheâs not sure how successful her attempt is.Â
Lian says everything is the same, but is it? Maybe it is for her. Jieun feels like a completely different person now, compared to who she had been back then, when they had been friends.Â
Shin didnât mind her insults for he knows heâs far from disgusting. Heâs a handsome young lad and heâs got a list of people to prove such a thing. Even a stranger would say so. Thatâs how confident he is with his looks. Heâs heard some people say heâs the most handsome being they have ever seen and theyâre not wrong.Â
âOink.â He teases the younger. âTrustworthy, my ass. I know bloody well youâre the kind of person to stab a man for no reason. I can feel it.â She was intimidating in her own way but instead of being scared, Shin felt like it was his job to remind her that people like him exist. Ones who taunt the devil themselves for the heck of it. âWho said we will? You can starve to death next time, Little Piggy.â Shin tells her firmly, not even hiding the fact that he wasnât planning to save her ass anytime soon. There was a reason why he didnât like having friends and emotions. He starts to care and caring can often times get in the way of his work.Â
âRelationships are a waste of time. Trust me, I know. Especially when you get nothing out of it.â Shin doesnât elaborate further on that and leaves everything to her imagination. It wasnât easy getting in and out of relationships that he didnât even mean to start at all in any way if he wasnât in need of money.Â
âMaybe youâre not in a relationship because youâre not interested in dudes.â The male says half-heartedly as he begins to drive again. He was never a fan of judging people based on their sexuality. People are people as long as they live a life where they donât have to trample on others, then it should be acceptable, he believes so. âMaybe thatâs why you donât find me handsome. Because you prefer girls over men.â He continued to tease. Eyes on the road as he drives back to her apartment. He has work too in the morning. âI wish you thought about your work before dragging me out like this. I have work too, you know? Youâre not the only one trying to make a living out here, Little Piggy.â
âWho says I wouldnât have a reason?â she retorts playfully, shoving a fry into her mouth. âBeing a man is enough of a crime, if you ask me.â Sheâs mostly messing with him, but even she has to admit there is some truth to her words. Itâs not something she usually likes to talk about, or even think about, but growing up without a father left a hole in her. Now she finds it hard to trust men, certain theyâll all end up the same as her father, the bastard who never even bothered to find out about his own child. She knows itâs not completely his fault, as her mother never was sure of who he was, but heâs the easiest person to blame.Â
She gives him a shrug. âIf you wonât come with me, I can always find something else to grace with my wonderful presence. Itâs not like youâre the only person in this town who owns a car, oppa.â A laugh leaves her as she dips another chicken nugget in sauce, proceeding to stuff it in her mouth.Â
His next words make her snort. âGet something out of it?â she repeats. âI think what youâre supposed to get out of relationships is, like, mutual love and respect. Affection. Something like that.â She shrugs. âDonât take my word for it, though. Iâm no expert.âÂ
The playful mood of their conversation dies down as he suggests she might not be interested in guys. She is, but sheâs also interested in girls, something she has failed to mention to him. Something she usually fails to mention, actually; she can count the amount of people to know on one hand. Thereâs a silence between them once he finishes talking, Jieun not quite sure what to say in response. She knows heâs probably just teasing her, but she canât help but worry if he would be against it if he knew. Would he think less of her? Mentioning something like this to anyone, itâs always a risk. She can never be sure what others will think.Â
âHm, maybe,â she replies after a moment. Her gaze shifts to look out the window, avoiding meeting his eyes. Sheâs sure the change in her demeanor wonât go unnoticed, but at the moment, sheâs too tired to care.Â
wychaiâ:
â Â ââ Â THEREâSÂ a smile on his face as he enters the salon, greeted with a familiar feeling he canât exactly place. It wasnât the first time he had been in the particular establishment however, but it was the first time he had been in it in a long, long time. Chai booked himself an appointment for that afternoon on an absolute whim: for some reason, waking up and seeing his fading blond hair stand disheveled along his temple disappointed him. So he decided on a change.
âJieun noona, hello!â the young artist raises a hand as he approaches the older femaleâthey werenât the closest of friends, mere acquaintances at most, but he liked to believe he at least knew her face. She was close friends with Insu, if he remembered correctly. So by default, Chai figured he should at least know her face. âMm? Thatâs fine with me. I sort of just made it without a real thought about whoâd do it. Just as long as the job was done.â Chai laughs softly after the statement and offers a small shrug of his shoulders; he really truly did not care who did his appointment, just as long as they didnât majorly fuck up his hair. Jieun seemed like she knew what she was doing, so he felt no reason to protest.
At the direction of her hand he moves to sit in an empty chair, setting his small backpack down onto the floor under the counter, out of the way. He scratches the side of his neck as he looks at himself in the mirror, gaze traveling from his hair to Jieun as she asks what he wants. Chai gestures absently to his hair while responding, brow knitting as he thinks through his statements. âUhm. I didnât have too much in mind, but Iâm sick of this blond thing I have going on? I was thinking maybe. Switching it up again. Back to black? But Iâm not sure how black might look on me right now. I also want my hair to finally breathe again after having so much bleach in it for this damn look.â Chai rolls his eyes with a small smile, setting his hands down into his lap. âWhat do you think? Black a good choice? You probably know more about this stuff than me, so.â
âRight,â she nods, smiling at him as he told her he had no preference for a specific hairdresser. She had been counting on as much when she made the appointment switch. Anything else wouldâve robbed her of a chance at getting some good gossip, directly from the source. That wasnât a chance she was about to pass up.Â
Her hands brush through his hair as he describes what he wants, getting a feel of what she has to work with. Itâs definitely easy to tell itâs been bleached for a while, the blondâs hair feeling damaged. However, itâs not badly damaged â Chai must have been getting it professionally bleached, instead of doing it himself. Which is good; makes it easier for her to work with it.Â
âYes, your hair definitely needs to breathe,â she agrees. âI think black is perfect. Itâs your natural color so you wonât have to dye it for a while, if you decide to keep it. Besides, darker colors are always in style during winter.â As she speaks, she begins gathering the supplies she needs, finding the right color hair dye and deep condition to go with it.Â
Once she has everything, she drapes a black cape over his body, attaching it at his neck as she sits down on a chair behind him. âSo you donât want to get it cut, correct?â she asks to clarify, their eyes meeting in the mirror. Now that there were no more preparations to do, there is no use beating around the bush â sheâs dying to hear if there is any truth to what Insu has been telling her.Â
âThe black is going to suit you very well, enhance your features a lot. You doing it for anyone special?âÂ

@wyxkisung
Jieun was surprisingly nervous. Sheâs on her way to the Charms classroom, a class shared with the Gryffindors. Itâll be her first time seeing Shin and Kisung after the change in her relationship with Insu.Â
Not that Shin knows anything. At least she thinks, and hopes, he doesnât. Heâd been upset at the mere thought of something happening between Insu and her. She canât imagine how upset heâd be if he found out heâd been right, and something had actually ended up happening. She just hopes Insu hasnât told him anything yet. It really should be coming from her, being his sister and all.Â
But Kisung. Kisung is Insuâs brother, and she doesnât doubt for a second that heâs aware of everything that went down the night before. Hence her nervousness. If Shin had reacted the way he did, what will Kisung say? Will he have the same kind of reaction, or will he be happy for them? She honestly isnât sure, but she supposes sheâs about to find out.Â
When she gets to the classroom, sheâs relieved to find Kisung has arrived already, the seat next to him empty. She guesses heâs waiting for Insu, but slips into the seat before the other Lee brother can claim it, anxious to find out if the other would be upset with her or not.Â
Once she sits there, though, she realizes she has no idea what to say to him. Straight up asking him how he feels about it doesnât seem like the right way to go about it, so she opts for a simpler approach, hoping he might mention it himself.Â
âHey, Ki,â she greets him, smiling warmly at her friend. âYou got a date for the ball yet?âÂ

wycheolsuâ:
âOf course.â
He shouldnât play favorites. At least not out in the openâbut itâs difficult with her. Heâs always been an academic, with a sharp appetite for being the finest in any class during his time at Hogwarts (Magical Creatures being his only stumble) and he sees a similar sort of soul in Miss Jung.
âIs this for Potions or Quidditch? You have a fair future in both.â Itâs her last year, and he hopes that sheâs taken a serious thought towards her career path. Knowing the clever, driven witch she isâCheolsu is certain sheâll excel at either.
âAh, itâs for Potions,â she replies. His praise makes her feel a sense of pride. This isnât just anyone praising her, itâs Professor Bang, someone she has admired for years. His praise lets her know sheâs on the right track.Â
âThank you, sir,â Jieun continues, a quick bow of her head. âIâm just wondering if you have any extra credit work for me to do in your class. I know Iâm already doing well, but I want to be the best. Since itâs my last year and all.â She hopes sheâs not coming across as full of herself; the last thing she wants is for Professor Bang to think badly of her.Â

Jieun hasnât been a part of the civic centerâs art club for long, nor would she say sheâs very dedicated to it. She doesnât actually have time to dedicate herself properly to anything that isnât her job. Itâs more of a hobby, really, a place where she can find other people who also appreciate art. However, despite not being the most fitting member for the job ( in her opinion, at least ), she has been tasked with keeping an eye on the new kid whoâs considering joining them. Whatever that means.Â
Despite not being sure exactly what her responsibilities entailed, Jieun had been welcoming to the boy, showing him around before the meeting began. Sheâd left him alone after that, as she had some pieces she needed to finish for the clubâs next art exhibition. Once sheâs somewhat satisfied with the progress sheâs made that day, she makes her way over to where Felix is sitting, intending on checking on the younger.
âHowâs it going?â she asks as she approaches him, her gaze quickly moving over his workspace. âThatâs pretty good. Are you liking it here so far?âÂ
wyinsuâ:
She tastes like butterbeerâa little two sweet. And while In-su wasnât expecting to see stars (heâs realistic about relationships) he wasnât ready for how right kissing Jieun felt. It gave him the courage to admit, âI like you.â
Thereâs more he wants to sayâa flurry of words explaining why and when it all started, because he can tell she didnât expect the kiss. But the words are caught in his throat. Just a couple hours ago theyâd met as friends, and now In-suâs pushing for more without much of a heads up. There are questions in her eyes, in the quiet of her voice that he has to answer, and itâs tough when thereâs not much for him to go off on from her reaction. Is she disappointed? Angry?
In-su covers her hand with his.
âYou knowâwhen somethingâs so close, you canât really see it that well. You were always beside me and the boys. And I always loved you as my best friend, butââ He guides her hand up, brushing the part of his mouth along her knuckles in a kiss, the words warm and muffled on Jieunâs skin. âI donât want you to go to the ball with anybody else. I want you to go with me.â
Itâs out in the open now, and that somehow makes the words flow easier. âI like you, Jiji.â He sets her hand down on her lap but doesnât let go. âAnd Iâm not fucking around. I wouldnât risk what weâve got like that.â
He holds her eye. âIâm serious about you. So, please. Go to the ball with me.â
She stays quiet, merely looking into his familiar eyes. Truthfully, she doesnât know what to say. Or do for that matter. Managing one coherent thought is hard at the moment, as her best friend kissing her and confessing to her is the last thing she had expected to happen that day. Maybe sheâs been oblivious ( at least the things Shin had said to her would make sense if thatâs the case ), but up until now, she had been completely unaware of Insuâs changing feelings towards her.Â
The warmth of his hand covers hers, and her gaze travels down to them. The first thought that hits her is how right it looks. Which, to be honest, sort of scares her. Has she been developing feelings while being completely unaware of it herself? How long had this been happening?Â
As he moves her hand, her eyes follow it, their gazes eventually locking again. As he speaks, her eyes never leave his, not even when he sets her hand down.Â
Insu likes her. Like, really likes her. She hates how unsure she is of her own feelings, hates her inability to give him a clear answer after he bared his heart to her. Though while this all feels new and unfamiliar to her, she also has a feeling of warmth, familiarity. Being around Insu would always elicit those feelings in her, and following his confession, her chest feels even warmer, if thatâs even possible.Â
Maybe there is a slight chance she has been oblivious to her own feelings developing. Or maybe what sheâs feeling is a potential for feelings to grow. Sheâs not sure how to explain this to him. Instead of speaking, she looks down on their joined hands, carefully entwining their fingers together. She looks back up at him again, a slight smile forming across her features as she studies his face. Thereâs a deep intake of breath before she begins speaking.Â
âInsu, I...â she begins, her voice faltering as she realizes she has no idea how to explain any of her thoughts. âI donât know what to say. I donât want you to take this as rejection, because Iâm not rejecting you. At all.â She swallows. âI just... I donât know, I guess I need some time to process this.âÂ
She pauses, her thumb slowly stroking his hand as she gathers courage for what sheâs about to say next. She feels stupid for even feeling nervous to say it, seeing as Insu had literally just confessed his feelings to her. Itâs not something she should have to feel embarrassed about, not around him, but at the end of the day, Jieun has always been a person who feels uncomfortable with admitting to her feelings.Â
âI, uh, wouldnât mind doing that again, though. The kiss.â Her last words come out barely audible, eyes fluttering down in embarrassment. She can feel the brush spreading on her cheeks, turning her pale skin a rosy pink. âAnd of course Iâll go to the ball with you. Thereâs no one else Iâd rather go with.â With her last words, she dares peek up at him again, a shy smile playing on her lips.Â

The male shrugs. He didnât care anymore whether she did things on purpose or not. It was enough for him to realize that the past seven years they spent together, were spent more with the Lee brothers than just them. She stopped relying on him when Insu showed up. He wanted to be someone Jieun can rely on but he wasnât that kind of man. He was childish and rebellious, but it was his choice to be like this. TO be easy for Jieun to approach him. Instead, this made things easier for her to push her own brother aside. âYeah, sure.â He comments a little later on. âArenât you competing with that Ravenclaw prefect?â Shin asks, not that he was nosy but heâs seen the list of names of the top students.Â
Sure, Jieun is one of them and so is he, at a certain point but thatâs because heâs not trying. He barely tries. He focused too much on trying to be a good brother that heâs gotten tired of it now. So tired that heâs gone cold and quiet in a snap of a finger. A butterfly flapping its wings can surely be heard in his silence. âNothing. This is who and how I really am. I spent seven years trying to be a brother you can rely on and easily approach. Iâm just tired now, Jieun.â He says, slouching on his seat, his eyes were a hue darker than the usual hazel colored ones that they naturally are. âWeâre half-siblings but did you even ever try to actually get close to me? Because if you did, I didnât feel it. I didnât want to be a brother youâd hate and fear of.âÂ
Shinâs eyes met hers and as much as she tells him she doesnât see Insu romantically, Shin has watched the pair grow close over the years and itâs not like heâs dumb when it comes to feelings. Why else would he always try to sit and get in between them? Surely, Jieun wasnât THAT dense or should he say, dumb? âTell me, what did you ever do for me?â He asks. âDid you ever notice all the things Iâve ever done for you or Insuâs actions have always weighed more?â She only seemed to care about whatever Insu and Kisung did. More than he did. His own friends were his competition for the sake of Jieunâs attention and affection.Â
âNo. You donât know me at all. Youâve known me for what? Five seconds before you became enamored with the Lee brothersâ existence. Youâre no different from your father. You surely would make him proud.â He laughs waving his hand in front of Jieun. More than that? A brother? Sure. âOi. Let me borrow your wand for a second.â He tells the student in front of them. Holding the wand in his hands. He eyes it as he spoke. âIâm just tired of being second best in everything. Who said I canât act up and be the worst brother and friend for you three?â Snapping the wand in two in front of her soullessly. âUh-oh, looks like Iâll be in detention.â dropping the broken wand on the table.Â
âIf you and Insu ever happen, forget that weâre siblings. Iâll have to tell him to forget that weâre friends as well.â
âI wouldnât call it competing,â she replies, though she has to admit it does feel like a competition at times. Ahreum is one of the best students in their year, and most of the time, Jieun doesnât care. But when it comes to Potions, she wonât accept being second best. She supposes she could say sheâs competing with everyone when it comes to Potions, though especially the top students, a group Ahreum happens to be part of. So maybe it is a competition. Not that Jieun is about to admit that.Â
âWhat do you mean?â she asks, his words confusing her. Does he really think she has never felt close to him? Itâs as if he has forgotten she spent the first few years at Hogwarts practically attached to his side, the world of magic something completely new to her. It had been equal parts scary and exciting. Having a brother she could rely on during that time had meant the world to her, and it stings to hear him throw that away as if it was nothing. Sure, sheâd had Insu and Kisung at the time, too, but back then her brother had always been her first choice. Still is. Insu might be the person she spends the most time with now, but that doesnât erase her relationship with her brother. Heâs still the first person sheâd do anything for, no matter what.Â
âOf course Iâve tried to get close to you. Shin, donât you remember our first years here? I donât think I would be who I am today, if I hadnât had you by my side back then.â Sheâs getting more frustrated with the conversation now, and it reflects in her speech, her voice raising as she tries to get her point across. She doesnât want the class to pay them any attention, but itâs hard for her to stay calm, considering the nature of their conversation.Â
His next words make her heart drop in her chest. In all the years theyâve known each other, theyâve been in agreement on at least one thing: their father is a bad person. To hear her brother compare her to that man, saying sheâs no different from him, hurts more than she can ever imagine. âI am nothing like your father,â she sneers at him. âDonât you ever compare me to him ever again.âÂ
Her gaze follows Shinâs actions as he asks for the wand of the student in front of her. As was the case with perhaps everyone in their group of friends, the other students are always too scared to tell them no, resulting in the poor boy reluctantly handing it over. âHey, leave him alone,â she tells her brother, shooting an apologetic look the other studentâs way. Whoâs the bully now, Shin? He keeps talking, though at this point she has stopped giving his words any attention, already too fed up with the conversation. Itâs not until she hers the wand break that she focuses her attention on him once again, her mouth falling open as she stares at him in disbelief.Â
âYou know what?â she snaps, perhaps a bit too loud. The other students, and the professor, are paying attention to them now â she can feel their stares on them. Jieun doesnât care, though; sheâs already getting up from her seat, hastily packing her things together. âMaybe I already want to forget weâre siblings,â she spits at him, her words venomous. Theyâre harsh, and she doesnât mean them, but at the moment, sheâs furious at her brother. Before he gets a chance to say anything else, she storms out of the classroom, ignoring the stares of her fellow students and the professor yelling after her. She needs to be alone, far away from her brother.
Itâs not until sheâs alone, hiding in the Prefectâs bathrooms, that she finally lets a tear break free, more tears following in an unbroken stream.Â

WONYANG HARRY POTTER AU â TASK 002 : YULE BALL
wyinsuâ:
His hand drops to rest on her shoulder, the cream still a smear of white on his thumb. Heâs not sure what to do with it. What to do with her. Jieunâs his best friend. Has been for the past seven years, and thereâs a weight between them from matching memoriesâthe scratch of quills on parchment as they linger in the library, the sheen of sweat and determination as she faces him across the Quidditch field, the warm press of her body against his side as they wander through the halls. Sheâs always been devoted to him and their quartet of friends, and that had been enough.
Until it dawned on him this afternoon that she could be taken from them. From him. And the thought of another student taking her to the ball terrified him so damn much not because sheâd be ditching their group of friendsâbut because he wanted to be the one offering her his hand. Wanted her fingers curled around his palm.
Heâd taken it for grantedâhaving her next to him.
âDonât punch me, okay?â
Sometimes itâs easier to show than tell. In-su drags his thumb across her lower lip to smear the cream off and leans inâhesitating for a quick exhale of breath before closing the distance and pressing a kiss to the part of her mouth.
She stares at him, his hand feeling warm as it rests on her shoulder. Thereâs a brief silence between them, the only sound in the room being the crackling of the fire. He seems to be hesitating to tell her. Is he nervous? He must be serious about this crush, then. She wonders who it could be.Â
Finally, the silence is broken. His words make her frown, confused by what he means by them. âWhy would IââÂ
Oh.Â
Oh.
It dawns on her whatâs about to happen, and all she can do is stare. Sheâs not given any time to gather her thoughts, because then heâs leaning in, his face close enough for her to feel his breath graze over her lips. Thereâs a moment of hesitation, where her breath hitches, and then, his lips are on hers.
Her first kiss. Jieun doesnât know how to respond, sitting there unmoving as her mind tries to comprehend the situation. She feels as if she should be panicking; Insu is her best friend of seven years, and now heâs kissing her. It should feel weird, potentially enough to ruin their friendship, but for some reason, those thoughts quickly pass. Instead, all she can think about is how soft his lips feel on hers, her heart quickly increasing its rhythm.Â
She doesnât know how much time has passed by the time she pulls away from him. Their gazes meet, and her brows furrow, uncertainty clear on her face.
âWhaâ what was that for?â she asks quietly, her voice barely audible.
wymoonlianâ:
Her response brought a frown to Lianâs lips. The voice was the same as she had remembered, but it was different now. She couldnât quite put her finger on it, but Lian didnât feel her childhood friend anymore.Â
It was a stranger in front of her now, and too much had changed, too much had happened so that any hope Lian had of them being okay was completely out the window.Â
âYeah, of course, itâs a good cereal,â she mumbled, but she hadnât even seen what brand she had used to hide from the other. She didnât even bother to acknowledge the fact that the other clearly knew what she had been up to, tinting her cheeks in embarrassment a little bit.
âOh yeah, totally. Canât get enough of thatâŚâ she glanced over at the display. âMultigrain CheeriosâŚâ Gross.
âWhat are you doing here?â she asked, pausing for a moment before adding. âBesides the obvious. I meant here, waitingâŚwere you waiting for me?â she wasnât sure why she was asking. She wasnât sure if it would even matter what she had to say. âYou doing okay? Itâs been a whileâŚâ
Things would never be the same.Â
An eyebrow is raised at the other woman. Jieun doesnât believe her for a second, and sheâs sure they both know it. âSure.â She nods, dragging the syllable out. Honestly, there is no use beating around the bush, but if Lian wants to pretend she was actually there to check out the cereal, thatâs not Jieunâs problem.Â
The tenseness between them, however, is soon addressed. âI wasnât exactly waiting for you,â she corrects her. âI just happened to notice you on my way back to the register, and it was very obvious to see what you were doing,â she explains with a shrug.Â
âIâm... okay.â Honestly, the question surprises her. After the two had lost touch years ago, Jieun had never expected they would stop and chat about how theyâre doing if they ever ran into each other again. Had they just been regular friends from school, she might have seen it coming, but her friendship with Lian had began deteriorating long before they stopped talking, a moment in their past creating an awkward tension between the two girls.Â
âHow are you?â she asks, and she finds that sheâs genuinely curious about the answer, which surprises her.Â

It had been a little over a year since the last time that he got his hair cut - and considering the fact that he cut his hair himself and that was kind of a disaster in and of itself, and it took him a while to grow it out until it didnât look like such a wonky goddamn mess. So he figured going to a professional to get his hair cut was probably a better idea. Less embarrassing than having to deal with his own stubbornness biting him in the butt because he believed he could achieve something by himself.
He canât remember at what point he agreed to let Jieun style him - it might have been an attempt to get her to be quiet, honestly. Or maybe sheâd secretly gotten to him and the core of his issue, and as such he followed the woman to heed her advice for how a âstarâ should dress.
He never really felt like such a thing would apply - in America his existence was such that he was merely a background piece, not anything special. But with this band it was different. Heâs still a bassist but because hes the core of why the band formed in the first place - the media was labeling him as the leader.
So if Deryl looked like a slob - it would bode poorly for success of the band. At least, thatâs how he saw it. Presentation is an important part of being an entertainer already, but in Korea its importance seemed to grow two-fold.Â
He was still somewhat overwhelmed with what the woman was talking about, but heâd suck up his worries, at least for the moment. âSounds alright, yeah,â his tone sounds slightly non-committal, as if heâs not really sure whether this is the answer the other wants to hear, but he really doesnât know.
The older doesnât sound as committed to this cause as she was, but Jieun wasnât going to let that stop her. Sheâs aware of the fact that this is just some random client of hers, and sheâs not in any way responsible for him or his band, but she wants to help. Sheâs heard of his band before â not because sheâs into music, mind you, but gossip spreads fast, especially when working as a hairdresser. The group hadnât been doing too well, and the least she could do was help their leader look his best. She doubts itâs going to make them suddenly rise to fame, but itâs a start.Â
âOkay, so...â Thereâs a pause as she eyes his outfit, gaze moving quickly over him. The only word she has for it is simple â painfully so. It looks like he doesnât care at all about the way he looks, which might be true for all she knows. But that wonât work as an idol. âWhat type of clothes do you prefer? Do you think you have a style?â She doubts it, but doesnât hurt to ask.Â
She barely allows him to come with an answer before sheâs talking again, finding it hard to stop once she gets going. âI think we could keep a more simple style. It doesnât have to be complicated! Whatâs important is that all your clothes fit you perfectly, that your outfits match, and of course, accessories.â She puts some weight on the last word. âThey really help tie together an outfit. Basically, your outfit has to tell a story. Makes you look interesting. People will be dying to know who you are.â She pauses, allowing him to take in everything sheâs just told him.Â
âSorry, this is all a bit overwhelming, isnât it?âÂ
