Executive Spotlight: CEO Marcus Weyland of Weyland Yutani

1. On Company History
Interviewer: Weyland Yutani was a major force in the early days of mans colonization of the stars, becoming the largest company in the United Colonies by 2216 – but with the horrors of the Colony War, in which Weyu supplied the bulk of the UC’s infamous Xenowarfare brigades, the company was broken up as part of the Armistice in 2311. Now you want to bring it back. Why is that?
Marcus Weyland: "The company at the time of the colony war was not the same one that carried our family names through the solar expansion and exodus from Earth. As I am sure you are aware my great grandmother was removed by the board in 2260 at the urging of the UC Government of the era, and since that time our family has not been in direct control of the company. I want to bring company back to what it was before the war, focused on building better worlds for our customers and colonists."
2. On Family Ties
Interviewer: Isn’t it true though that she was removed on suspicion of supplying Varuun Crusaders who were terrorizing the colonies in the name of their religious war? Does your family still maintain ties with the Varuun homeworld?
Marcus Weyland: "Accusations against her were never proven and more a power play by a corrupt board of directors than they were a legitimate claim. While yes the Yutani side of our family had members that emigrated to Varuun’kai during the days of the exodus, our family has always been made up of loyal citizens of the United Colonies. We do not currently or plan to have any expansions into Varuun space unless officially sanctioned by the United Colonies.”
3. Return to Form
Interviewer: The Company going private and returning to the family is certainly an unexpected development for most investors, how did you orchestrate this return to form?
Marcus Weyland: "The company had been out of our hands for three generations and given how poorly it had faired under board leadership, I felt called to take the helm. With generous investment from our partners in Stroud-Eklund and contract commitments from the UC Vanguard and Constellation, we were able to negotiate suitable terms to remove the current board leadership and hold a new executive election.”
Interviewer: Will any of the former board members be returning under your leadership? Who else are you bringing on board?
Marcus Weyland: “They will not. As I mentioned, with SE holding the largest share of investment in the new company Walter Stroud will be forming a new board of directors. I have named Sarah Morgan as my COO, and other members of Constellation will be joining the executive leadership team. There is also Lin Yu, who will be taking the reigns of Argos Extractors once our buyout is compete.”
5. Current Brands and Future Deals
Interviewer: You mentioned a number of companies partnering to bring back Weyland Yutani as a major player. Since the Armistace break up, Weyu has continued only to operate its shipbuilding business of licensed Nova Galactic parts but has lost significant ground to its competitors. Do you have plans to continue that business and what other areas are you looking to expand the company?
Marcus Weyland: "For years Weyland Yutani was the backbone of the UC Military alongside companies like Deimos and Allied. We intend to pick up that lineage by introducing new innovations across the defense sector, including a return to the same technologies that made us so important during the Colony War.”
Interviewer: Your talking about xeno weapons? Xenowarfare was outlawed by the Armistice.
Marcus Weyland: "And rightly so, however there is an unaddressed legacy of destruction that still lingers across the Settled Systems that we see as a growth opportunity for the company. There are thousands if not millions of invasive and often dangerous specimens that have spread like a phage across the galaxy right alongside humanity – the Terrormorphs. Earth. Toliman II. We cannot lose more worlds to the unchecked spread of invasive wildlife. I think Weyland Yutani is uniquely positioned to help and profit in this regard."
Interviewer: Pest Control is certainly an area I never considered, but what about more traditional markets? Does Weyu intend to offer new ships or consumer products?
Marcus Weyland: "Certainly. The buyout agreement also included a roadmap to rebuild the Combatech brand as a premiere space outfitter and expand its line of caseless firearms. We’ve also partnered with Argos Extractors and Con-Am to offer resource extraction services on contract. I will however be winding down our shipbuilding operations for public buyers, as per our agreement with Stroud-Eklund we would not want to cross compete in the same markets. Instead, Stroud will build made-to-order ships on Weyu contracts. I have big plans for our fleet, but that’s not something I can really talk about just yet."
6. Solar Dreams
Interviewer: In other public comments you’ve made its apparently you see redevelopment of the Solar System as a priority for company and the UC. Can you expand on that?
Marcus Weyland: "What happened on Earth was a tragedy, there can be no doubt, billions fled, millions died, and many more still eek out a meager existence on the planets surface under quarantine. I think for a long time it became easier to look away and not really deal with the situation. Earth belonged to the monsters now and humanity had new frontiers to worry about. I don’t believe that is right, to give up our home so easily, and the people of the old neighborhood have suffered under that intentional negligence. That’s why I intended to move our headquarters from Jemison back to our first frontier on Mars. Weyland Yutani paved the way for early Mars colonization – most of Cydonia was built by Weyu contractors. The Solar System contains vast untapped resources still and Weyland Yutani intends to leverage that to rebuild Sol into a core world of humanity."

Marcus Weyland: "God willing."
