“I don’t know why you turn into that,” he shrugged. “Possibly because I wanted a rabbit? Something for my other children to chase to their hearts’ content.” He fiddled with the string on his bow. He’d have to oil it soon or at least replace it.

Boundaries between realms were not unlike bolts of fabric. The fabric could be strong as steel, holding fast even under the greatest strain. More often than not, there were places where the cloth was weak, edges were frayed, even places where holes had been torn into it. A sufficiently powerful being could manipulate those weaknesses, slip through them given the right amount of provocation.
Thus Hircine, Daedric Prince of the Hunt, found himself on a mountainside overlooking a sprawling city. It was an odd place, a burial ground of some kind, but the dead didn’t seem to be all that interested in staying dead, as he’d discovered, having to fend off a few shambling corpses that tried to attack him.
But it was the city that was the oddest. It stank of blood and magic. So much room for possibilities! There would be enough hunting in this place to keep someone like him busy for the next several years. He waited until nightfall, skirting the omnipresent thugs who stalked the streets much like him.
His prey right now wandered the streets just ahead. Now just to plant the seeds of paranoia and begin the chase proper.

Hircine pinched the bridge of his nose. “So if you’re going to rant and rave about what a horrible being I am, make it snappy.”
