This MULTIPLANES takes its inspiration from our beloved Jungle Cruise! I pulled together several of my favorite elements of the attraction into a scene full of energy and fun. The animals are definitely the stars of this piece!

The Congo Cruise MULTIPLANES is available in 2 versions, the classic 1955 red and white striped boat and the current tan/rustic version.

The Diorama features 6 frames with intricate laser cut art and a base that quickly and easily assemble. The finished product measures 5” x 7” with a depth of 2.75.” Once assembled, these are perfect for displaying on a shelf, desk, or display case!

This weekend marks the 5th anniversary of the Tomorrowland film premier. Back in May, 2015 Disneyland had a gallery that showcased concept art, inspiration pieces and film props from the upcoming Tomorrowland film. The gallery was actually housed in Tomorrowland under Space Mountain behind the Star Trader shop. This set features the concept art that was used in the preproduction of the film. I tried to shoot all of it but there was so much art, I have to split it into 4 posts.

Lots of great artists were involved including Syd Meade who was most famous for making the concept art for Blade Runner, Tron, Aliens, and a number of other films. I absolutely love the visual language of this art. Lots of sweeping arches and walkways. All of it inspires hope. It’s kinetic design work gives energy to the environment. It feels like a city that’s always moving toward progress and innovation. It would be great to see Disneyland’s Tomorrowland become some sort of version of this. The original design was like this but lost it’s way over time.

TOMORROWLAND DISNEYLAND GALLERY. FILM PROPS. (2 of 4)

This weekend marks the 5th anniversary of the Tomorrowland film premier. Back in May, 2015 Disneyland had a gallery that showcased concept art, inspiration pieces and film props from the upcoming Tomorrowland film. The gallery was actually housed in Tomorrowland under Space Mountain behind the Star Trader shop. This set features some of the film used props and shots of the gallery inside and out that I took during this visit. During this time they were also screening previews of the film in the Tomorrowland theatre. They played an extended scene of the 1964 Word’s Fair where young Frank Walker goes to show off his jet pack and ends up being transported to Tomorrowland.

Back in May, 2015 Disneyland had a gallery that showcased concept art, inspiration pieces and film props from the upcoming Tomorrowland film. The gallery was actually housed in Tomorrowland under Space Mountain behind the Star Trader shop. This set features some of the items from a box in the Disney vault that were used to inspire the film. It’s contents were used as a launching point to speak life into the film. It contained blue prints, newspaper clippings, memos, books, photos, records, and an anamatronic arm. This content was said to be “found” in the studios but was later revealed to be put together as an inspiration piece for the film. I remember seeing these items that Disney released as teasers before the trailer.

As for the film itself, I loved it even though I felt it was too heavy handed with the climate change/global conflict messaging. Where the film did get it right was in the area that Disney has always done best, sparking the imagination and soaring imagery. I love that they took us back to the 1960’s when optimism for the future was everywhere. Seeing the 1964 World’s Fair and Small World was like being in a time machine.
