BIOGRAPHY
EARLY BEGINNINGS
Romi was born in Las Vegas in 1971 to her parents Edward and Eva Weiss. Growing up, she and her two older sisters, Cassandra and Elanore, were incredibly close and they spent a lot of time playing together in their expensive townhome. The Weiss family lived in the lap of luxury and Romi and her sister never wanted for nothing
What Romi didn't understand when she was younger was where all that money came from. The truth was that her father was a mobster and he made all of his money by being a drug baron. In fact, at one time, Edward Weiss was responsible for a majority of the heroin that was being sold in the city
Growing up, Romi was the apple of her father's eye, his baby girl. However, it wouldn't always stay that way. Though her mother, Eva, tried her best to look their other way regarding Edward's dangerous line of work, her final straw was when a bomb was set and detonated in their home when Romi was fourteen. Thankfully, Eva had taken the girls out for the day, though their housekeeper was killed. After this, her mother was determined to keep her children safe. She packed a suitcase and took the girls with her
However, Edward Weiss did not take kindly to his daughters being whisked off into the night and he wasn't about to let his wife win, nor would he allow her the opportunity to take all of his blood money in alimony and child support. So he did something about it
While the girls were at school, Edward had his wife dealt with. When he picked them up from school, he informed them that their mother had gone away for a while. And then 'a while' turned into 'a few months' and then finally, the story was 'I'm sorry, girls, but she's decided that she doesn't want to come back'
From the very beginning, Romi knew that something was very wrong--she was certain that their mother would never leave them behind. The whole story just sounded wrong, like it was just vague enough to buy some time. Romi gave up all hope of ever seeing her mother again a long, long time ago
THE CHATALYST
Growing up as a mob boss' daughter, you learn quite quickly that there is little room for questions and obedience is expected. Even though she knew damn well that her father's love was conditional, growing up, she did whatever she could to earn it
Over time, her mother's absence began to weigh heavier and heavier. She'd started to have nightmares about her mother, started to wonder how much her father actually loved them. Sure, he said it all the time but did he really love them? Or were they just his darling dolls, his prized possessions to show off and take credit for raising such wonderful children
By the time she was 18, the weight of the expectation of perfection was beginning to weigh on her and partying became her escape. Though she remained relatively polished in front of her father, whenever she'd go out, she lost all inhibitions and threw caution to the wind. Every single night, you could find her in a club, high, having the time of her life
One night, after a long night of partying, Romi's second oldest sister, Elanore, greeted her at the door and tried to confront the young woman about her drug problem. Romi, still coming down from her long night of partying, lashed out and got into a nasty argument with her sister. In retrospect, the blonde knew that she was only trying to help but things got ugly quite quickly. The last thing she remembered was screaming at her sister to mind her own damn business. The next day when Romi woke up with a wicked hangover, her sister was suddenly nowhere to be found. Her father had told her that she'd 'run away' but she knew that was a lie right from the start. However, what she didn't know for sure, what she couldn't quite remember, was whether she was responsible or not...
THE AFTERMATH
Even though she continued on as if nothing had happened, trying to simultaneously piece that night together and all at once forget it, she still felt as if she had a storm inside her chest. She continued to party, becoming even more reckless. In her young adult life, she'd had a lot of low moments but perhaps her rock bottom was when she'd gone on a three-day bender in her big, empty apartment. She'd been doing line after line and at one point, her euphoria turned to sheer panic because she could hear her heartbeat in her ears and it felt like it was racing faster than ever before. Suddenly, she was sobbing, terrified that her heart was going to explode, terrified at the idea of missing out on everything that she'd yet to do
At 19, she realized that she had an interest and, as it turns out, quite a talent for cooking. Struggling to find some direction in her life, Romi decided to go to culinary school. Though her father had seemed mildly disappointed at first, she'd explained her 'motive' behind the idea. Always wanting her father's approval, she proposed that wherever she ended up as a chef, the business could serve as a front for one of her father's many 'business ventures.' While he was quite impressed with her proposal, it didn't get her nearly as much recognition as she'd thought she deserved. In the midst of becoming a sous chef, she was still doing coke regularly, now fully relying on it to get through her day
However, eventually with some encouragement from friends like Cyrek Fawn, Romi eventually checked herself into rehab, where she was diagnosed with depression. She's had a few backslides but she's now been sober for a year-and-a-half, a huge feat for her
That being said, she tried to remain pretty under the radar while in rehab, given that her father was displeased with her decision to seek treatment. In his own words, 'Rom, I love ya', I want you to get better, you know that--but what are people gonna' think when they see my daughter, Edward Weiss' daughter, the apparent heir to the throne, in fuckin' rehab because she can't stop snorting coke? It's embarrassing.' Her father was ashamed, afraid that people might begin to think the Weiss family was unstable (weren't they, though?...)
Up until recently, Romi had been attempting to rise through the ranks of the family business, hoping someday to become the family's underboss. However, her father's antiquated views kept her from rising to her true potential, as did the snake in the road that kept getting in her way
However. everything changed on the day of her father's wedding. She was supposed to have delivered a heartfelt speech about her father and his new bride but instead, she let her anger get the better of her and she torpedoed the speech in front of the entire town. Her father subsequently disinherited and kicked out of the Weiss family for all intents and purposes. She's now attempting to restart her life. Again
While she's masquerading as the perfect daughter, practically begging for father's attention by day, by night, she's sneaking off to be her one her true love. The Juliet to her Juliet, Romi has fallen for the fake mona lisa, a daughter from the rival family in Vegas. They both know that it's risky but they simply can't stay away from each other. If all goes well, her father will never have to know...
