As much as he didn’t want to admit that Eunbyul had the capability to be mean, he’d only have to become a bit more socially aware to realize that she hadn’t been the most welcoming to his presence in the past. But of course, Subin figured that she always wanted him around. Maybe she didn’t always answer the array of text messages that he’d send at all times of the night, but she had never told him to stop sending them, so he’d continue the practice until he managed to get a reply from her. “Well, you didn’t walk away, did you? So, even if you are mean, you must love me at least a little bit. Your actions speak volumes.” Proud of the conclusion that he came to all on his own, he gives you a smug grin before lightly nudging your side with his elbow.
The question that she had decided to ask was one that he couldn’t come up with an answer to right away. Why had he really decided to become an idol? Maybe it was so that he could hopefully make enough money to send home to his mom and younger brother. Or maybe it was so that, if he gained the love and affection of hundreds of fans, he wouldn’t feel so alone anymore. He didn’t exactly want to say any of these reasons aloud. They all sounded too depressing. Scrunching is nose up, acting as though he didn’t understand what would prompt you to say such a thing, Subin glances down at you. “I only ignore some of the rules. I think you’re just out to make me sound like the worst guy ever.” He lightly scoffs under his breath.
He wasn’t sure if the thought of Eunbyul on a survival show was funny or scary. He knew how much she liked to win, even if she didn’t want to be on the show in the first place. “So, you’re telling me that hundreds of girls are going to be in the same place as you?” He raises an eyebrow before laughing aloud. “They’d better watch out.” He could easily imagine a few hospital bills having to be paid since Eunbyul was going to be there. It’d be easier to win if more contestants were out with injuries, right?”
“Oh, come on. A business card is so outdated. I don’t want them to think that I’m ancient. Don’t you think that it’d be better if you sent out my picture in a group chat, or something? That way they can decide if they like what they see right away. Should I work on my poses so that you can take my picture?” Getting up close to your face, he starts putting his best aegyo skills to use.
mean was one of the best words that there was to describe eunbyul and how she treated. manipulative was likely a close second. subin was one of the poor souls who she kept around just in case she needed him for something someday. and his willingness to stay around only benefited her. sometimes, she imagined the pair of the becoming real friends, especially when she found herself thinking about him when he wasn’t bothering her. but eunbyul quickly pushed that notion aside. “maybe i just stick around because i know that you’ll be paying for my dinner later.”
she rolled her eyes, leaning into his side as the pair of them wandered. “i know how you work, subin. you only pay attention to rules when they benefit you. how you’ve made it this far without being kicked out of your company is beyond me, honestly.” upon furthur thought, eunbyul came to the conclusion that he was lucky that he was pretty. there was a high chance that he wouldn’t get away with nearly as much as he did if he didn’t have such a gorgeous face.
she snorted quietly, enjoying the mental image of her shoving her fellow contestants aside for the imaginary crown that she had in her mind that came along with winning select. “nothing to watch out for if they’re smart. they’ll know they don’t even have a chance going into it since i’ll be there.”
eunbyul leaned in close, giving him a good flick to his forehead. “you aren’t going to be getting any ladies with those moves. don’t you trust me? i promise that all the pretty ones will be begging me for your number.”
