late nights in parking lots

i discovered my balance shaft belt was snapped when i took my lower timing cover off. the car was running before i started working on it; it just had more vibration than usual, a P0420 fault code, and was struggling up hills right before i parked it a year ago.

i'm replacing the timing belts, etc, because there's a significant oil leak coming from the upper timing cover. there's not supposed to be oil there, lol.

i think my major leak is coming from the seals around the oil pump, and there's definitely an oil pan gasket leak. i'm currently working on cleaning the engine up so i can drop the pan and check my balance shaft bearings 🤞🏻

and then i'll go from there.

i really, really hope the bearings are okay. if they aren't, idk if i want to attempt replacing them in the car or maybe just deleting the balance shafts altogether.

either way, i'm excited to get her back on the road :)
