My mother taught me some of the most valuable lessons I carry in life until today. She taught me to always be giving, especially to the people who once stood beside us during the times we needed help the most. She reminded me never to forget where we came from and to always look back with gratitude. She believed that we should take time to visit, remember, and thank the people who opened their hands, hearts, and ears to us when life was difficult.
As I grew older, I also began to truly understand her sacrifices in a deeper way. I remember moments of her tears and pride were weigh. I just don't want to go through all of those and i believe they are private to her. Looking back now, I realize how much pain and pressure she carried just to make sure our needs were met.
And yet, despite all of that, I do not remember feeling poverty the way she must have felt it. That is because she and my dad protected us from it. They carried the weight so we would not have to. She made sure that even in difficult times, we still felt safe, cared for, and loved.
She also taught me the importance of family. She raised us to look after one another and to never turn our backs on each other during hard times. She taught us that when one family member is struggling, we should not close our doors but instead offer support, understanding, and help however we can.
As her only daughter, she also taught me to value myself.
She reminded me that my parents worked hard to raise us with love, security, comfort, and unwavering support, and because of that, I should never allow anyone to treat me badly or make me feel less than I deserve.
She taught me to be wise in choosing the man I would love and to choose someone who would truly respect, care for, and love me sincerely.
One more thing she always tells me is to not depend everything on my partner but instead i should be independent on my own and find my own earnings.
I also want to honour her gift and talent in cooking and baking. My mother has always been amazing in the kitchen. Her food and cakes were always appreciated by anyone who tasted them. She had a natural way of bringing comfort through her cooking, turning simple meals into something memorable and full of love.
Looking back now, I realize how much of my strength, values, and understanding of love came from her. So much of who I am today was shaped by her guidance, sacrifices, and wisdom.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mom. Thank you for every lesson, every sacrifice, and every love you poured into our lives.
