My younger sister went to get tested for COVID for her work, and instead they found something just as bad.
Kelsee wasn’t feeling well and went to the doctor to get COVID-19 tested. The prognosis she was given was much worse. She was diagnosed with Stage 3 heart failure. After much testing, it was determined that she has a congenital heart defect. Unfortunately, the medications they have put her on are not working and a heart transplant will be the only way for Kelsee to continue to survive.
On July 10th she is getting a catheterization done on the right side of her heart. They are hoping her cardiac output (how well the heart pumps and squeezes) has improved. On July 16 she is getting a second Echo-cardiogram done to re-stage her heart failure. If these tests aren’t where the doctors what them to be, she will be referred to a hospital in either Nebraska or Minnesota to get her pre-heart transplant device. It’s called an LVAD [A left ventricular assist device] which will help the heart pump until a transplant is available.
The date of the transplant surgery is yet unknown. She needs to wait for a suitable donor and hope for a miracle.
As you can imagine, this is a lot for a 27 year old to take on. Kelsee is no longer able to work and their household is now being supported by just her husband, Ryan.
The personal, emotional, and financial challenges these two will occur will be enormous. Along with prayers and positive thoughts, I would like to ask everyone to consider donating to help with upcoming medical costs and family expenses during this hardship.
