We had the incredible pleasure of taking part in the Waiter's Choice Catering 25th anniversary celebration last month. This wasn't just a little party, it was a huge event! From the amazing food to the live entertainment, it's safe to say that industry professionals, and friends and family of the business had an amazing time helping celebrate the company's milestone.
We were thrilled to be asked to create a custom cake for the event, utilizing the business's waiter logo as inspiration. We spent over a month building the cake, which started with numerous trips to Lowe's for just the right pieces to create (and re-create) the frame of the waiter. The result was a life-size, waiter-shaped cake in the signature tuxedo of the Waiter's Choice logo. While the 250 pound cake was no breeze to move from our bakery to the event, it was worth it to see the response from the guests.
Another special touch we added were sugar champagne bottles. We created more than 100 of these, which took us more than 2 months. Here are just a few of the steps that go into making it:
Boil sugar to exactly 323 degrees
cool sugar
put in oven to prevent air bubbles
cool completely
print individual labels on edible paper
It's easy to see why we were only able to create 2 per day with each step requiring a great amount of patience. To hold these champagne bottles, we created silver beverage buckets made of, you guessed it, cake! We capped off our dessert display with Macarons, Wowie pops and chocolate-covered strawberries, all on a beautiful display designed by the incredible David Klingel. (We couldn't have done it without you, David. Thanks a million!)
We enjoyed the time we spent helping Waiter's Choice celebrate such an exciting event. This family-owned, Charlotte business is a great option for any type of event. Concentrated on providing quality service while remaining budget friendly makes them a wonderful option for any type of event. Thank you, Waiter's Choice, for allowing us to be a part of this wonderful afternoon. Congratulations on 25 amazing years serving the Charlotte community, and to many more years to come!
Congratulations Emily & Tyler! Wow Factor Wedding Cake for the Beautiful Bride
We’re so excited to announce that the gorgeous Emily Maynard asked Wow Factor Cakes to create a pink wedding cake for her June 7th nuptials to Tyler Johnson. As fans of The Bachelorette, we loved how she represented Charlotte while on the show & we’re so glad to see her beaming & happier than ever.
To create Emily Maynard’s wedding cake, we worked with Event Planner Ivy Robinson, whose professionalism and creativity always encourage us to do something extra cool & imaginative. We love any chance we get to work with Ivy - she manages to push us outside our comfort zone and gives us a ton of creative range; there’s not enough we could say about her innovative talent & vision.

We were honored to create a dessert spread for the fabulous Foundation For The Carolinas (FFTC) event a few weeks ago! The museum, which hosts weddings and other events, thew a party for clients and vendors, complete with delicious food and creative cocktails. Since FFTC has so many great, colorful pieces, we decided to fashion a dessert table in the same style. Everything we served was edible, including the bowls! This sugar art isn’t exactly a piece of cake (pun intended!), but it was so worth it.
