anyway do you ever think about stirling and bergé comparing notes and then going back to tell paddy and augustin about each other and then when the free french joined the sas paddy said “show me to the philosopher” and augustin said “i hear you’re a poet” and paddy gently removed augustin’s glasses and recited some for him saying “the eyes of a familiar compound ghost, both intimate and unidentifiable” and then he eyed augustin up with wariness wrapped in intrigue and then later on augustin went after paddy with a gun for how he treated his men and paddy in turn wrestled him to the ground and said “i wonder if it’s something more than that” and then later augustin said “you make me curious” and saw paddy eyeing the men being too rough with the piano and said “my friend they’re just playing, it’s just a piano” and then after it had kicked off he held out a steadying hand in an attempt to placate a wild paddy and said “captain mayne, whatever is the cause of your pain you have my deepest sympathy” and then they argued about the plans for a raid that augustin was nearly killed on and when he made it back to camp, the only one of his men to do so, they never even talked about it. and then he just disappeared and was never mentioned again. no me neither

and do you ever think about how augustin was the only one to constantly stare at paddy (each scene he was in he was either looking directly at him or looking at him from a distance in the background) and looked at him with approval being the clear explanation (thrice) and how his general presence to the plot was to not only challenge paddy but to bring him someone who would accept and respect him despite how he gets and how mad he can act and how he even went so far as to stay behind to tell paddy that he will have his deepest sympathy despite everyone else in his unit absolutely HATING paddy and how he even cheered paddy in the ending scene of ep 5 and how he sat directly in front of him . no? ok. ok. yeah of course same.

btw i’ve never seen pacific rim but i had a dream last night that there was a new pacific rim movie and the kaiju and the big robots were fighting and there were all these gratuitous shots of them stepping directly on cybertrucks with the drivers still inside them and in an interview guillermo del toro said that those were his favorite shots in the entire movie
