darling, ᵈᵉᵃʳᵉˢᵗ ˑ

 𝚑𝚎’𝚜   𝚗𝚎𝚛𝚟𝚘𝚞𝚜,      𝚜𝚑𝚎   𝚌𝚊𝚗   𝚝𝚎𝚕𝚕.      the   way   his   voice   clips   around     the   edges,      how   his   words   come   out   in  a   rush.     it   almost   makes   her   forget   her    own   nerves,     but   the   pink   stick   clutched   between   her   fingers   is   enough   of   a   reminder.    

 not   that   she   truly   needed   it.       the   morning   sickness   ⅋       the   changes   in   her   mood   enough   of   an   indicitation.      if   not   for   this,     her   magic   was   enough   to   know   for   sure.     the   pregnancy   test   was   more   of   a   formality.        more   for   him,    than   for   her. 

  ❛        two   minutes,    yeah.     now   breathe.      it   doesn’t   do   well   if   you   faint   before   we   get   the   results.        ❜        𝐬𝐡𝐞’𝐬   𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠   𝐧𝐨𝐰.

 𝚒𝚝   𝚑𝚊𝚍   𝚝𝚊𝚔𝚎𝚗   𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚖   𝚑𝚊𝚛𝚍𝚜𝚑𝚒𝚙   𝚊𝚏𝚝𝚎𝚛   𝚑𝚊𝚛𝚍𝚜𝚑𝚒𝚙   𝚝𝚘   𝚐𝚎𝚝   𝚝𝚘     𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜   𝚙𝚘𝚒𝚗𝚝,      to   be   able   to   hold   each   other   in   their   arms   without   anything   trying   to   tear   them   apart.        besides,       it   wasn’t   just   them   anymore        .  .  .           they   had   children   to   take   care   of            ⅋           a   home   they   could   call   their   own.     

 even   so,     sometimes   the   fear   of   losing   him   somehow       seized   her      by   the   throat,      constricted   her   airflow.       they   were   human   now.       vulnerable.     death   was   somehow   closer   than   it   had   ever   been.   

 ❛        i   miss   them   too,     𝚋𝚞𝚝   𝚒   𝚖𝚒𝚜𝚜𝚎𝚍   𝚋𝚎𝚒𝚗𝚐   𝚊𝚕𝚘𝚗𝚎   𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑   𝚢𝚘𝚞     𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚗   𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚎.     ❜       she   allows   herself   to   lean   into   his   frame,      her   lips   lingering   close   to   his.        𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲   𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞   𝐭𝐡𝐞   𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞   𝐚𝐢𝐫,      their   hearts   beating   the   same   tune.       she   wills   this   moment   to   last   forever.

   he  wraps  his  arms  around  her  .      both  arms  ,     holding  her  tight     &     close  to  his  chest  .      he  could  keep  her  there  forever  if  time  would  let  her  .       hands  softly  rub  on   the  small  of  her  back  .       hoping  to  give  her  some  comfort  .

   he  loves  their  children  ,        would  do  anything  for  them  .       but  before  they  were  there  ,        there  was  stefan      &     skye  .         that  ,      and  a  lot  of  pain  and  suffering  ,       but  most  of  all      . . .      love  .       lots  of  love  .       lots  of  consuming  love  .

 𝚝𝚑𝚎   𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚜𝚎   𝚑𝚊𝚍   𝚋𝚎𝚎𝚗   𝚋𝚞𝚛𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐            ⅋          𝚜𝚑𝚎’𝚍   𝚋𝚎𝚎𝚗   𝚝𝚑𝚎   𝚘𝚗𝚎     𝚝𝚘   𝚕𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝   𝚝𝚑𝚎   𝚏𝚕𝚊𝚖𝚎.          her   guilt   had   eaten   at   her   for   months            .  .  .           keeping   secrets   is   what   tore   them   apart   in   the   first   place,     but   the   more       intimate       details   of   their   relationship   were   not   something   she   could   share   now.        not   when   he   was   already   so   confused.        not   when   he   had   hated   her   when   he   left.

 ❛        are   you   hungry?      we   could   go   to   the   grill   for   some   food.         ❜   she   was   the   last   to   try           ⅋        trigger   his   memories.         her   fear   had   kept   her   away.       it   was   only   at   caroline’s   urgings   that   she   allowed   herself   to   give   it   a   try.      this   decision   was   almost   immediately   followed   by   regret.         —         𝐬𝐡𝐞   𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐧’𝐭   𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞   𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭   𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐭   𝐡𝐞𝐫   𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞,      him   looking   at   her   with   no   recognition   on   his   face  or   the   anger   in   his   eyes   when   he   learned   of   her   deceit.     she   had   to   look   away. 

   it’s  easy  to  both  see     &     sense  that  she’s  not  comfortable  .       he  assumes  they  were  close  .       taking  in  a  deep  breath  as  he  takes  a  step  forward  .            ‘          you  don’t     have     to  hangout  with  me  ,     skye  .        i’m  sure      -      my  memories  probably  won’t  come  back  today  anyway  .       if  you’d  rather  be  free  ,      you  can  go  .           ’
