I decided to make yet another one of these for the representation of tall women because earlier I saw that one of my girls made a post feeling down about her tall height. She said sheβs always subconsciously associated tall height with men and that is all she thinks about. This is exactly why starting these type of photosets came aboutβdue to my personal insecurity that Iβm overcoming and Iβve heard others mention as well. Iβve seen countless memes and rude jokes on twitter and other social networks about tall women and thatβs something that stuck with me as well. I had a discussion with someone who was a short height who gave me the flipsideβshort jokes and ridicule. It is important for us to know that there are other women with similar physical traits existing all over the world and especially shown in media in various fieldsβnot just models or athletes, because we may not fit either of those. It is important for black girls to have black barbies. It matters. It is important for black little girls to see a wide array of black women because it will help them be more confident as they age and in some cases, hit puberty and wonder βWhy am I so tall but my parents arenβt?β βThere arenβt any other women around who I can look at eye to eye. Why is that?β We need to see tall women, short women, dark women, light women, Afro-Latinas of various skin tones, black women with dark eyes, black women with light eyes, black women with wide noses, black women with small noses, black women with full lips, black women with thin lips, black women with gaps, black lesbian and queer women, black trans women, curvy women, chubby women, thin women. Itβs not stressed how important this is. Thereβs no worse feeling than feeling alienated or alone.
