Santana is a half-blood witch who grew up as an only child in a predominately magical household with her father, a muggle doctor, and her mother, a witch working in the Department of Magical creatures in the ministry. Her early childhood was decent, at least, until the death of her uncle, who died fighting against Voldemort during the war. The death affected Santanaâs family for years, and it is a loss that still means quite a bit to Santana to this day. Very few know just how much her uncleâs death always meant to her and affected her, especially because it happened when she was as young as she was.Â
But of course, that never kept Santana from demanding attention everywhere she went. All through her years at Hogwarts she made sure that she was the center of attention, and that everyone knew it, and flaunted her status in the Slytherin way whenever she could, especially when they had to do with personal achievement of her own. Santana pretty early on realized that she had attractions for girls however, and while she forced herself into the closet out of her own fear and anger for what it meant, she ultimately came to accept herself through the kindling of her first love for Quinn Fabray. They dated for a while until Quinn ultimately told Santana she couldnât handle it, due to not wanting to be âoutâ yet. Because of Santana coming to terms with her sexuality over Quinn, their breakup always stung quite a bit for Santana, even if she wouldnât ever show it.Â
But her experiences at Hogwarts eventually came to an end, and as her seventh year finished, she began to realize that she desperately needed to figure out what she was going to do with her life. And if there was one thing that Santana loved at the time, other than flaunting how awesome she was, it was singing, so for a decent amount of time, Santana decided to try the whole singing thing out in the wizard music scene all over the area in different cities in England. She even tried to get her own miniature form of a tour off the ground within the country, but she realized ultimately through her lack of any major success with it that singing really wasnât for her. Which left Santana with this strangely empty feeling as she realized there was something missing in her life. Because what Santana wanted more than anything was to feel like she had status like sheâd had at Hogwarts, or like she could fight with everything she had in her to achieve. They were the beliefs that grounded her in who she was, and that had made her the cocky little Slytherin that sheâd been in Hogwarts. And it was partially because of her uncle, and because she knew that heâd died for a cause and the idea of working her way up into something prestigious really did appeal to her. It was through that realization that Santana Lopez realized that she was fit for a different sort of destiny: to become an Auror.Â
Santana thrived under the harsh analysis and consideration that was part of the Auror training. Sheâd always done well with competition after all, so the pressure almost never cracked her. So by the time the day came where she was officially selected to become an Auror, Santana was ready. Sheâd never been more positive about anything before.
Of course, the war changed all of that. Time and time again Santana had been put in dangerous situations, and had seen quite a bit of the worst parts of the war, and as much as sheâd been able to handle it and had always come out unscathed, it really it made her almost cynical about the whole thing. But of course, it was too late to back out of where she was now, and Santana Lopez had never been one to back out, despite the fact that sheâd spent the duration of the war alone and for the most part, separated from others because of her own desire to detach herself from anyone and everyone. Part of her had begun to wonder through the war if sheâd really held onto what made her become an Auror in the first place, or if sheâd just lost herself.Â
Quinn Fabray â For a long time, Santana had difficulty coming to terms with her attraction for girls. That is, until her feelings for Quinn Fabray ultimately made Santana cave, and step out of the closet with pride. The two dated through the end of their fifth year and part of their sixth, and Santana developed a soft spot for the girl, despite the exterior of their relationship seeming to be all about status. However, Quinn ultimately broke it off between the two of them because she wasnât ready to be âoutâ yet, which always stung for Santana, especially because sheâd finally become proud of who she was and open about her own sexuality. The two havenât really spoken much since theyâve left Hogwarts.
Kitty Wilde â Santana and Kitty constantly fought in Hogwarts, trying to out do one another in all ways possible. Which was weird, because Santana really did consider Kitty to be almost a mini carbon copy of Quinn, but maybe that, and Kittyâs weird attachment to Quinn was what always bothered her. She didnât appreciate the whole wannabe act, and it was always important to Santana in the time she knew Kitty from Hogwarts to remind the girl that she was on top.Â
Marley Rose â Santana had never really been one for the whole âradiating goodnessâ thing, which was something that Marley was basically a walking example of. The whole constant kindness and desire to help people with her whole Healer thing always kind of nauseated Santana, especially as someone who could never understand how someone could be like that all the time, so the two hadnât ever been all that close. But Marley never got in Santanaâs way at Hogwarts or after, and maybe there was a part of her that appreciated knowing that the sappy stuff still existed in some people. After all, it was probably a good thing that not everyone was a carbon copy Santana Lopez.
Ryder Lynn â Considering Santana has little to no care about a majority of people she considers âirrelevantâ to her, and usually dislikes them with a pretty strong passion, Ryder falls under that category, and his natural âpuppyâ tendencies donât help. Heâs never really meant anything to Santana, nor does she care about his existence, so she basically just says whatever she feels like saying whenever he chooses to talk to her. Why should she care?Â
Jake Puckerman â Santana never honestly considered Jake anything near close to her level of status, or to anything she should care about even slightly, which put him at about the same level as Ryder for her on her list, which meant it was low. The two have had some conflict over the years, especially when Santana gets herself into sticky situations or arguments with Ryder.Â
Jeff Sterling â Yet another example of someone who has a horrible case of âpuppyâ syndrome. That was really all Santana had ever considered about Jeff Sterling, and for that reason, she really could care less about so much as giving him the time of day.Â
Harmony Pearce â Santana couldnât honestly say she really had so much of an opinion about Harmony whatsoever. The two never spoke, even in Hogwarts, and she didnât see a reason why they would ever have to. She had enough irrelevant people in her life as it was.Â
Chris Karofsky â Santana has a weird relationship with Chris, to say the least. Or she really had never known what to call it, because from what sheâd gathered, he always seemed like the kind of person who just struck a random conversation with literally anyone. But there was something Santana appreciated about it, especially considering her lack of real care for 99% of the population in her own selfish pursuits. It was almost like she saw him the same way, and it was something she knew how to appreciate in this weird and strange way, even if she could barely call their few conversations ground for a friendship.Â
Sarah Puckerman â Even if Santana almost always butt heads with personalities like her own, there was something about Sarah that had always struck Santana the right way. The two had a lot in common, way more than just stubbornness and bluntness as sheâd realized, and maybe it was enough for Santana to be able to tolerate her.Â
Ellie Wilde â While Ellie always had that bubbly annoying thing going for her that Santana hated oh so much, she had to admit, she was way better to be around than her obnoxious little sister. Santana always appreciated Ellie for that reason, even at a distance, but it was probably just because she wasnât anything like her sister.
