Wonder World Virus

I think most of you already saw leader Sunye's message on the fancafe about her plan to live in Haiti for five years with her husband for a missionary work. It is not clear if she'll take her daughter Hailey with them. That message and JYPE's statement just left us wonderfuls with a lot of confusion.

Just like the rest of you, I got mixed feelings with all of these things. First and foremost, I am so happy that Sunye is doing what really makes her happy and that she now have everything she could ask for: A loving husband, a wonderful child and a spiritual and fruitful life ahead of her. I am swelling with pride that our charismatic leader is so brave enough to accept the calling of God. I am so proud, being a Wonderful, our leader has such a pure caring heart and that she is such a perfect role model.

On the other hand, I felt like all of my hopes of Wonder Girls coming back as a group has completely shattered. Her message seemed like a farewell to the Wonderfuls. Can Wonder Girls promote without Sunye? I think, no. There would be no Wonder Girls without Sunye. She was the reason why JYP formed this group. Sunye isn't really my first bias from the group (Yeeun is) and we always say that Wonder Girls won't be Wonder Girls if one of them leave the group, but honestly, I believe that any member may leave the group and be replaced but not the leader Sunye. I don't have any bad feelings towards her. I respect her decisions in life. She deserves to do her thing and be happy.

Though, I feel annoyed with JYPE. They said that Sunye isn't leaving Wonder Girls. They said that Wonder Girls is not disbanding. As much as I wanted to believe that, somewhere in my mind, I know it's hopeless. I felt like they are just covering the fact that the group is already as bad as over. Why do they have to keep our hopes up? Why do they have to keep us waiting? Without an official statement that WG is disbanding, it is really hard to say goodbye to them. As long as they say the group is still together, wonderfuls will hold on it even if we know that there is nothing to hope for. JYPE never made their statements clear about the standing of Wonder Girls. Nothing was mentioned about sub-units and solo albums.

Seriously, Yeeun should be given a shot to debut as a solo artist. She got everything she needs to hold her own. She doesn't have to be an idol, but a serious musician that she really is. She can be a ballad artist where she can show how vocal prowess and composing talents or even be a rocker chick where she can explore her edgy side she once shown us during the Wonder World Era. I know she's currently active as an actress and collaborating with fellow musicians but it ain't enough. Yeeun is a rare gem in Kpop, such a shame to be wasted.

Before, I was wishing for a 2Ye sub-unit, then a YeBin... but now, I think Yubin and Hyelim should be the ones to make a sub-unit. Those two will blend perfectly as a rap duo. I feel sorry for Hyelim that she hasn't been given the chance to show more of her talents. I know there's still a lot of things she can offer and I'm sure she will surprise and amaze everyone.

As for Sohee and Sunmi, I'm so glad they are doing their passion right now. A lot of wonderful still wishes that MiSo will be back as wonder girls members but Sohee did quit from the group for good.

Sunye can't be a missionary and a celebrity at the same time in my opinion. She will live in Haiti for five years. Five years. That's so long enough, most people would have forgotten most (if not all) of the second generation idol groups by then. If they are saying that Wonder Girls will be back as group after five years, it will be hard for them to get back on the Kpop map again.
