BAC / Aerospatiale Concorde 102 ‘G-BOAA’ by Alan Wilson Via Flickr: c/n 206. ‘Alpha Alpha’ first flew on 5th November 1975 and was the first Concorde delivered to British Airways, which took place on 14th January 1976. On 21st January she flew the very first British Airways Concorde service, which was from London to Bahrain. During her service career she flew 22,768 hours and carried out 8,064 landings. Between January 1979 and July 1980 she was registered as ‘G-N94AA / N94AA’ as part of a joint venture with Braniff. Her last flight was on 12th August 2000, a return flight from New York JFK to her home at London Heathrow. In 2004 she was dismantled and moved by road and sea to East Fortune in Scotland. Fully reassembled, she has become a focal point and headline item for the museum. Surrounded by informative displays and open for viewing, she is on display as ‘The Concorde Experience’ in Hangar 4 as part of the National Museum of Flight, part of National Museums Scotland. There was a squadron of them that were in town last week and caused MacDill AFB to issue a statement to the public to not be concerned about the noise.
