“I wanted to do this growing up, I went to school for it, I went to Binghamton University and majored in theatre, I even taught theatre, but I made a shift pretty early on after college, I was like “oh you know what I feel like I want to start writing music, then started to do well at that and left musical theatre by the wayside. I never really had that sort of traditional Broadway voice. What’s so great about this show is that they really embraced non-traditional singers and I saw Brittain Ashford singing “Sonya Alone” and I was like “oh my gosh, I think I, like maybe I could do that?” I love theatre, I love going to the theatre but I wasn’t really thinking this was ever going to happen, honestly.
