wild beasts did not behave as their domesticated kind did.they roamed free and without chains shackling them to duty, responsibility, loyalty -- as wild as the wind, nothing could tether them.the divine god of the sun bore a spirit as free as any beast, roaming with the passing seasons and letting his paws carry him to where he felt he needed to be.thus, had he come here, to a small ranch with a handful of horses and an even smaller handful of cows, where the grass grew long and the sun shone gentle.

it was peaceful, quiet, a needed reprieve from monsters and bloodshed.the girl that minded the ranch let him lay in the tall grass, beneath the shade of the outlying trees, and simply watch, undisturbed.some days, he would be gone, and others, he would appear as though by magic, pure white coat standing out like snow among all of the green.

he never did much, and he did not need to.not until a day came for it.

beasts, wild and free, also craved and starved for what they could not have, for what their domesticated counterparts enjoyed.the luxuries of a pack, the free-flowing food and the promise of shelter.what humans gave to those who wore collar and shackles, the wild went without, and hungered for it.

the girl, her heart flaming defiant, had heard the howls and come out with bow in hand, arrow already plucked from her quiver.with feral, yellow eyes and untamed gray fur, the wolfos were not beautiful and divine as the white wolf who slept beneath her oak trees.they were hungry and slobbering, their jagged claws hooking into the soil as they circled and rounded upon her cows, hunger leaving them bold enough to strike in daylight.

her arrow was drawn, bow drawn tight, ready to be sent flying -- and a white flash appeared in what looked like a burst of flora.

snarling, spitting, raging, in a tangle of white and grey did shiranui launch into the beasts, fangs drawing blood.snapping growls turned to sharp yelps as time froze for seconds at a time, divine wind churning from nowhere, slicing into thick skin, the distraction providing room for sharp teeth to sink deeper yet.there was no mercy, no momentary pause, no allowance of the beasts to slink off to lick their wounds.the ones that escaped merely did due to shiranui’s distraction in ripping into their kin, carcasses decorating the serene grasses of lon lon like a war field.his snow-white coat was stained with blood, but it was not from his own.

shaking himself, the battle over in a matter of seconds, temptation squeezed his heart to run after the fleeing wolfos who hopped the fence, the urge to finish what he had begun strong.but her voice, soft and melodic, rung out as clear as a song, and he turned to her, the violence in his heart melting with a wag of a tail.

           Inuyasha  still  wasn’t  certain  as  to  this  canine’s  intentions  –  it  didn’t  seem  to  be  holding  the  village  hostage,  as  he  previously  thought  –  but  he  still  didn’t  trust  it.  he  had  encountered  plenty  of  demons  who  pretended  to  be  holy  and  divine  entities  to  gain  the  trust,  service  and  offerings  of  humans.  had  this  wolf  done  the  same ?  he  couldn’t  smell  the  scent  of  a  demon,  but  that  didn’t  make  the  creature  innocent.

                        ❝   who  are  ya  t’JUDGE  me  anyway,  huh ?!  fer  all  I  know,  y’could  be  a  demon  TOO,  masqueradin’  as  some  kinda  god  t’keep  this  village  hostage  fer  yer  own  benefit !   ❞

            the  wolf  did  not  lie ;  most  villages  were,  at  best,  highly  suspicious  and  wary  of  the  hanyō  —  even  the  more  ‘civilized’  town  where  his  mother  had  lived  and  raised  him  despised  him  for  being  a  half-breed.  but  Inuyasha  had  met  as  many  evil  humans  as  he  did  demons  and  divine  beings.

           raising  Tessaiga,  he  pointed  towards  Kaede’s  village  that  this  ‘god  wolf’  was  “protecting”  from  him.

                        ❝   y’wan’  proof ?  I  could  walk  into  tha’  village  right  now,  ‘n  all’a  th’villagers  would  be  fine  wit’  it.  they  know  me.  but  I  bet  if  you  did  tha’,  they’d  be  scared  ‘n  cautious.  so  wha’s  YER  proof ?   ❞

he demanded PROOF? who was so bold as to demand the very sun itself the proof of its existence?

but -- he knew that the village people would be frightened of him. he knew, for the very village he sought to protect from the evils of demons thought that HE was one of their kind. shiranui did not need to be familiar with this village and its people to know that they would immediately believe him to be yet another devil skulking about in the shadows.

‘ if you demand PROOF of who i am, then allow the heavens to be your guide! ‘

rare was it that he would disturb the universe for the sake of petty squabbles such as these, but with pride scorned and temper inflamed, shiranui did not think twice of it. perhaps had ishaku had been there, he would have been slower to react, quicker to think instead, rather than act upon impulses. but time had already begun to crawl once more, and with paws braced, he threw back his head.

in a divine cry to the heavens, a golden, ink crescent carved out into the sky, and the midday sun begun to shift, all in a matter of seconds creeping below the horizon to be replaced by the crescent moon in its stead. the glow of solar flare and the glimmer of the constellations above was all that illuminated, and with steeled stare, shiranui set sights back upon the defiant halfling.

shiranui is a Big Boy(TM) in game, and ammy isnt nearly as big, yet?? she can easily carry fully grown men and women on her back, while also battling without breaking a sweat???

i can only imagine what strength shiranui has in turn

humans — a part of his divine creations, in contrast to the venomous hate that strikes his heart when laying gaze upon demons, he is full of nothing but love for the humans who roam the mortal plain.even those corrupted and vile have the potential to bloom into something beautiful with forgiveness and rehabilitation.

he has stood witness to mankind’s ability to change and evolve, to grow from their evil and become better from it.but shiranui is aware of his own blindness, of how he allows his adoration to cloud his sight and to make the imperfect, perfect.he has died for mankind despite their lack of belief and faith in him, and he will die over and over again for them if so given the choice.
