reading really is a great way to be like "damn, people exist so differently from me." conceiving of a character who is behaving so chill in a situation where i would be screaming/crying/throwing up at very best and running around with a hatchet at worst, and having the character who looks chill to me get told he's acting up is making me feel insane. the closest i got the situation this author is describing i ended up at a party, holding on to my friends dog and sobbing to everyone there, i was DEAD SOBER mind you. got some good advice tho honestly, changed my communication style completely.
