It was the last day. The last day at Hogwarts. The last day she was going to see him in months. Of course they would get into a fight. Of course they would yell at each other. That’s what they did and she had never had much of a problem with that. It was what made the world spin. But this time it was different, because he had behave during the year, because he hadn’t been the child he had always been, because she had liked his company, because she had started to like him. She had hope they’d write to each other during the holidays, she had hoped to maybe see him sometime, but after their row, she would’ve been lucky if he ever spoke to her again. Maybe it was that she couldn’t be on good terms with him and thus she had had to ruin it. Maybe it was that she was a horrible person. Maybe both. What she knew for sure was that this was the worst trip back home she had ever experienced.
Being back home wasn’t any better. She found herself wanting to write to him and remembering she couldn’t. Three days had passed and she was still sulking around. And of course that’s what she was doing when she heard the loud crack, followed by a knock. She promptly got up and walked to the door, she knew the person outside was a wizard or witch but she couldn’t think of anyone who would show up unannounced to visit her. She opened the door slowly, her wand in hand. She dropped it when she saw him.
“James?”
