Headcanons for Draco x Ginny during the seventh book at Hogwarts?
ginny weasley was becoming the head of the rebellion at hogwarts.
and that rebellion had to be tamed.
draco wasn’t supposed to be going back to hogwarts, but voldemort gave him another assignment.
to make sure ginny weasley was eliminated.
he didn’t want her to die, not just yet.
voldemort wanted to use ginny against harry when the time came.
he wanted draco to make sure none of her efforts were successful.
when draco arrived back at hogwarts after christmas, everyone was shocked.
people did not attempt to spit at him even though they wanted to, because they knew anyone who did would be jinxed or cursed by the carrows.
everyone was afraid of him, except for dumbledore’s army.
especially not ginny weasley.
a week after he arrived, she confronted him.
he realized how short she was as she glared up at him, and her hair resembled flames as it blew wildly in the wind.
“don’t try to stop me, malfoy,” she threatened venomously, “don’t you dare. you won’t be able to no matter how hard you try.”
and it was then that draco believed her.
he didn’t want to fight for voldemort anymore anyway; he knew that from the beginning.
and he was thankful his family was starting to notice, but he felt it was was sadly too late.
but maybe he could die trying to change his ways.
he knew she expected him to fight back, but he didn’t. he gave into her words by saying, “i know.”
he watched as she went from angry, to shocked, to understanding.
“you were sent here to stop us, weren’t you?”
he swallowed roughly and considered lying, but he knew it was no use.
“i wasn’t here to stop all of you, i was here to only stop you.”
clearly stunned, her eyebrows were raised, but he realized they were also raised from fear.
he never thought he would see ginny weasley afraid.
“why is he paying attention to me?” she asked him.
“he wants to use you to get to harry. you’re causing trouble.”
“i will stop everything to protect him and my family.”
the feeling then hit draco like a pile of bricks.
she was the braver version of him; the version of him that would do anything for her family but still do the right thing at the end of the day.
and that’s when he told her truthfully, “i won’t let anything happen to them. i won’t let anything happen to you.”
all she did was nod after that statement, but he knew those words would stick with her forever. he knew they would be his saving grace.
after that, they met every night to swap information.
voldemort had no clue how much draco fought against him for the cause until the bitter end.
and let’s just say right as harry was about to cast the killing curse right at voldemort.
draco and ginny made sure to lock hands right in front of voldemort’s eyes so as he fell, he saw his greatest failures.
the girl who could not be tamed, the boy who could not be controlled, and the boy who lived.
and most importantly, he would be forced to accept love.
