Also, mostly likely my last post on Tumblr.

It’s been fun creating these miniature erotic scenes over the last couple of months. However, I’ve noticed that Tumblr is either incredibly botted or just very passive: of the 3000 or so followers I have, very few engage with my posts meaningfully and even fewer proactively reach out to chat.

This is a problem I have with Tumblr overall: the space feels like something of a ghost palace where building community is very difficult and potentially actively thwarted. It seems as if there’s a very narrow band of what gets promoted on here, with a lot of algorithmic density devoted to 20 year olds babbling about their identity, whether you’ve demonstrated any interest in hearing their babbling or not.

A couple of people have reached out to chat, but the majority of DMs I get are either weirdos demanding I create things for them, or completely unhinged freaks who think Tumblr is very serious and send me doxxing or death threats because something something AI.

I won’t be deleting my posts or deleting the account. I might check in now and then to lurk, maybe catch up with a handful of people who talk to me. I just won’t be spending my time and energy creating images for a small handful of lurkers who never engage.

It’s a disappointing end. There was a lot of energy and growth here over the summer with lots of people reaching out. For a moment it felt like 2014 Tumblr again: just a bunch of horny, happy people sharing fantasies and experiences freely.

I guess it caught the wrong algorithmic slipstream though, because sometime this fall that all disappeared and I started waking up to death threats from random heavily medicated white women who look like they take the elevator to go up one floor, all of whom I’d never encountered in my life.

Anyway, life is too short, I’m too old, and I have too much to do in real life to waste time on an online space that’s incredibly censorious and mostly just a lot of work and random negativity at this point.

It was good while it lasted though. To those of you who were following along, thank you, and all the best.
