I feel like a lot of people racially stereotype Javier. They often frame him as this loud confident flirty ladies man. They also tend to make him slip in Spanish words in casual conversation a lot more than he does in fan fics. He does do it yea, but they make him do a lot more than he does canonically. We see about once instance of him flirting with women, in the saloon with Charles in valentine, and he’s not exactly suave. He comes off as awkward and a bit desperate, definitely putting on some sort of faux confidence, just trying to sort of gently force this relaxed happy atmosphere between all of them. He is NOT a ladies man or flirt. Also outside of that, he’s honestly a bit of an introvert, he doesn’t tend to talk to people first that often. Sometimes he does, and I don’t doubt he’s confident in a way, and we see multiple times he bites back when he’s disrespected, but he’s not going out of his way to make conversation with everyone. He plays guitar because it’s a passion of his, he sings because it likely reminds him of home and good times, not because he’s this overly confident flirt who’s trying to woo the ladies. He’s also not as aggressive as people tend to frame him as? We need to remember that Latino/hispanic men have, historically, been stereotyped as thieves, flirts, aggressive and overly confident. It was used as a way to demonise them and to justify the racism they faced. People need to do better when writing fan fics of Javier, it’s not only mischaracterising but also blatant racism, intentional or not.

It’s been about 7 years since I first read assassination classroom, and I just recently watched the new movie. I’ve loved it for years, but looking back on it, the creator is most definitely a weirdo. The way he sexualises the underage girls, talking about their chests so much, especially their sizes, constantly “jokingly” sexualising Yada. Also how he frames Irina as this “mature” femme fatale when she’s only 20? Hello? Being 18 now makes me realise 20 is a BABY. She is a baby. Also how she would kiss all the students? This isn’t even covering all the weird stuff in it. This isn’t to say the story doesn’t hold a special place in my heart, it does, but the creator is not a good person I can guarantee that.

I hate how so many people boil Eagle Flies down to just “Native American”. Yes he is Native American, and it’s the biggest factor in his story and character, but it feels dismissive to boil him down to just “the Native American character”. He’s so much more than that, he’s complex, same as his father. We don’t see as much of them as other characters, but from what we do see, we can tell they have a lot going on. Eagle Flies is angry, impulsive, proud, and possibly even immature. Both him and his father have endured great trauma, and they deal with it in opposite ways. Eagle Flies fights it head on, even at the expense of others and himself, where as his father takes the slow route, sacrifices parts of himself for his people, prioritises his people and family, his culture and way of life. He endures through the trauma and hardship because he knows it’s his responsibility. Both Rains Fall and Eagle Flies are incredibly complex and sad characters, and to boil them down to JUST “the Native American characters” is gross.

I’ve seen so many people say they hate immortal man to the point of anger. Why, what did he do? ☹️
