Hesse was a significant figure in the movement away from the  pristine, geometric aesthetic of Minimalist sculpture. Hanging from the ceiling, her work challenges our expectations of sculpture. Her work is characterized by an eccentricity of form and use of unusual and malleable materials, evident here with a papier-mâché form in an unraveling net. The title is ambiguous, but alludes to her frequent insecurities about her own accomplishments, and the anxiety of deviating from a chosen path.
