First blog of the first day

Today marks the end of my first day as a freelancer.

How did it go? It’s been a mixed bag if I’m honest, I wanted to treat it as a normal working day, get up at 8 (ok, I’ll admit, a small lie in there) start work at 9. And it started well. I’ve called upon the tools from my new Daily Greatness Journal to help me on this new and unchartered personal and professional journey.

It promises to radically transform and alter my destiny if used every day. Big promises indeed. I started with a dose of inspiration from an RSAnimate, 10 minutes of meditation and I was good to go.

As a very new founder of my own company, I know I’ve got a lot to learn; about running a business, finances, tax, marketing, business models etc. And then there’s my first project I’m working on, an exciting environmental project showcasing indigenous heroes protecting their forests. Plenty to be excited about.

But. It’s nearly 7pm on day 1 and I’m still pouring over work related material. Why? To refer to *insert name here* animate I watched this morning on modern ways of working, I have been crippled by the ‘working from home guilt’ - the assumption that my peers will think I am being lazy so I’m now over compensating. I don’t even have colleagues anymore, so the guilt is unreasonable to say the least. There, I’ve said it out loud, I think I’ve underperformed on day 1. I feel better already!
