at the mention of bella he becomes furious, a fire lighting briefly in his eyes as the pair stare forward, walking together ceremoniously. he was careful to not let it reach his expression, which came across apparently indifferent. “ oh, i am as kind as ever, naturally. making polite conversation, ” she says to aro, the practiced smile returning in an awkward display of amiability. aro's own smile is one which feels much less practiced, him being so clever at frivolities. but behind it is a flash of something sincere and nearly vicious, just for a short and instant moment. at aro's warning, jane bows her head, making meticulous effort not to let slip a furrow of her brow. with a gentle gait which appears almost to float across the room, jane takes her place by alec, the pair of them standing just feet behind aro as looming watch dogs, examining the every move of both edward and their master.
