Thereâs Something About Doreen
The time is circa 2006 and Iâm perusing the local holistic fair, as I walk around the various offerings I come across some tarot and oracle decks, one in particular is crating a bit of a buzz...a deck by Doreen Virtue.
I never planned to write about this person, nor purchase any of her decks and yet here I am in 2019 doing just that.
See, I was never drawn to her work, when I looked at her decks I wouldnât see myself in them, as even back then, they felt like they had an almost religious quality that wasnât my path, so I would walk on by.
Now I own 3 of her decks and it is all down to her conversion in the last couple of years away from the New Age movement and towards fundamental Christianity, by distancing herself from her products, Doreen had made her work attractive to me.
I am not, nor have I ever been a Christian, there have been times in my life where I have been exposed to the faith, yet ultimately resisted. Whilst Doreen did indeed hold the faith during the New Age period of her life, it was still too much in the wrong direction for me personally .
Having denounced her own work, Doreen deciding the Tarot and Oracles she produced were not aligned with Christianity, meant that I was free to purchase and try out the decks sans Virtues Christian energy.
But enough of explaining how I came to own some of her past life work experience, today I want to address the reason why I have broken my silence on Doreen Virtue and why it is an important lesson to all who wish to follow in her footsteps.

Is a virtual lesson on how much is too much, the almost exhaustive list denounces everything from Harry Potter to Unicorns But this isnât the worst of it.
While I freely accept and understand why she would denounce Witchcraft, Tarot cards and other spiritual practices from a Christian centric perspective, despite being contrary to my beliefs, it is the scathing attack on other cultures that I find to be abhorrent at best and bigoted at worst...
To attack, Native American practices and traditions such as saging and dream catchers really is lower than low, yet the fun doesnât stop there...
Feng Shui was also singled out for the âDenouncement Virtueâ treatment, with talk of âpointing to good instead of God.â
Does she not know that this is intolerance on her part and down right insulting to those who belong and practice this in Asian culture?
Prior to getting down and dirty with her self styled Wikipedia entry of ignorance and fear on her website, Virtue speaks repeatedly of how this is coming from a non judgmental place, that judgement isnât being passed...is this to disway from judgement being made against her viewpoint, or simply to attempt to appease and gloss over the blatant divisive and dare I say it culturally discriminative commentary buried between the various references to bible passages and external links to a site which effectively is made of more of the same.
How far the angel has fallen...absolute poetry in motion of the worst kind, surely whilst Virtue is practicing her Christianity, there is room for some spiritual goodwill?
Of course, there is only one thing worse than âspreading the good wordâ whilst simultaneously choking off all sense and reason and to find it you must go beyond the body of text and venture into the comments section.
There you will find a legion of support for Virtue, not a single negative comment, every single reply is supportive, even the ones which suggest she had missed items from her list.
Given the strength of opposition to her her article, I do not believe there wasnât a single unsupportive comment.
The strongest clue that there probably was but have since been deleted comes from the article itself now being closed to further comments....
Seems a bit fishy to me, indeed dangerous even, if Virtue is at a point where she will shut down opposing arguments and challenges to what she has written, Then that means she is locked in and unable to view the world from a rational standpoint, nor see that there is validity in the viewpoints of others which may differ for her own.
Yes, there is definitely something about Doreen, sadly I fear it is too late for her to be saved from herself.
