I had a nightmare that I was on vacation.

In truth Slavic mythology was and remains a mythology of a very different kind than the “classical” ones, that is Greek and Roman, which were reflected in sculpture, visual art, fables, and ancient manuscripts. Slavic mythology is based on deification and spiritualization of forces of nature, of cult of ancestors, cult of the hearth, sacralization of holidays of the year cycle and the cycle of the man’s life, changes and transformations in his family, age, and ritualistic functions. It is reflected in rites, beliefs, customs, taboos, legends, bylinas, and other, mostly prosaic, short folklore texts that are not mythological in the full meaning of this word.
