a planned adult sleepover seemed like a foreign concept. it seemed like most people these days stumbled into one or the other's place and let the night take its course from there. but this sleepover had been planned monday for friday night after work. josie and sawyer had been on a handful of dates at this point, and she had met his sister, who had also started as their assistant this week. the couple had been enjoying coffee and a chat in her office before their day's worth of therapy sessions when the idea had been presented to have a sleepover. it'd give kashton at least an evening to recover after we put her through the ringer, sawyer had joked with a crooked grin and the twinkle in her eye that josie was learning just how difficult it was to say no to.

when friday rolled around, josie had parted ways with sawyer so he could drive kashton home and she could settle in with some last minute things at home. in the time it took, josie was able to dress down from her work attire into a pair of flare legged yoga leggings and a slouchy sweatshirt. it was more dressed down than she was at work by far but still something that looked polished but cozy. she was still very much in that 'hey i want my boyfriend to think i'm cute' phase. her blonde curls were clipped up in a claw clip, a few loose strands framing her face.

she had just laid out some take out menus on the counter ( they both had decided to not worry about cooking tonight after the long week ) when she heard a knock at the door. bare feet padded around the kitchen island and across to her front door, pulling it open to reveal the man who always kickstarted her heart.

" well, hi there, handsome, " she greeted @hatchetswung with a warm grin, a hand coming up to rest on his side so she could draw him in for a soft kiss. she was unable to hide the twist of her lips when she drew back, hazels fluttering open to find blues with ease. jinny was no stranger to the tinsel household. in fact, his mom often made jokes that once they got a bigger house, jinny would have her own bedroom. she was a part of the tinsel family as much as jansen was a part of hers, and that's where their parents got the notion years ago that jinny and jansen had to be dating.

unlucky for their parents, jinny and jansen were stubborn. they had fought feelings for as long as they could, but there was no denying they were there. and when they did happen, one of them had made the joke about proving their parents right, which had turned to an extended bit of playing dumb to their families while secretly dating. they had kept this up for a long while now.

she had been staying the night at the tinsels, something that usually didn't require reason and was frequent enough on either end. she had her usual spot on the large sectional couch with pillows and a fluffy duvet that his mom had stashed away for these visits. she had set her phone aside about an hour earlier and had curled up to doze off for the night, basking in the warmth of the embers that still crackled in the fireplace across the room from her.

she felt the blankets stir and pulled her from her slumber, a soft groan spilling from her lips as she felt a warm body crawl onto the couch with her. she immediately recognized @hatchetswung's scent and hummed softly as she curled up with him, her leg weaving through his and arm draping around his middle. " your dad likes to come downstairs and refill his water in the middle of the night, " she warned with a sleepy mumble, brown eyes slowly fluttering open.
