literally crying while making this but here is my illustration of daniel from wayward, what started as a simple study became an animated exploration of daniel's death, of stacey's kindness a foreboding of evil and cruelty, of the woods claiming a boy whose only fault was being too much, too loud, too defiant in the face of abuse.

“Because the world is so full of death and horror, I try again and again to console my heart and pick the flowers that grow in the midst of hell.”

my piece for the blooming + journey prompts of the #augustadventures challenge, though i feel it could fit the ancient prompt as well.

initially i wanted to illustrate the journey of persephone, but i think this can speak to what she represents as well, the cycles of life and death, of rebirth.
