“you superheroes are getting younger and younger.” she’s distinctly reminded of the spider boy back during the fight against the warlord, thanos. “what is your name?” sword re-sheathed onto her back, joining its twin, sera crossed her arms across her chest, fingers tappin’ onto her bicep in a random rhythm.

“i mean, i must know the name of my helper.” the mercenaries on the ground are still groaning, no doubt hurting from the beat down that they received from both her and the newcomer. sera did try to be gentle since a majority of the humans here are rather fragile in comparison to asgardians, especially ones that have been enhanced through the witcher trials.

⸻   𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐕𝐄𝐋 𝐈

an asgardian, sera was born on asgard’s coldest day in the middle of winter before she was given up to vesemir, a witcher, as he called upon the law of surprise as repayment for saving sera’s biological father. raised in the mountains by vesemir, sera started her witcher training the moment she was able to walk and talk, enduring the harsh and intense training to prepare her for her future trials.

after undergoing the trials, unlocking cryokinetic & hydrokinetic abilities, sera finally graduated and just in time for the asgard-jotun war, which had just started. hired by the king, sera and her fellow witchers were brought in to assist in the war efforts, heading down to midgard to help protect the humans from the invading jotuns. when the jotuns finally retreated back to their home world, sera and the others stayed behind to take care of the humans, leaving once the war was declared over. for a few hundred years, sera explored and traveled throughout the other realms, taking on jobs and making a name for herself, to the point that occasionally she would be hired by odin to assist in the training of the einherjar.

after ragnarok, sera decided to temporarily settle on midgard, ensure the safety of the remaining asgardians until the events of infinity war brought her to wakanda. during the 5 years, sera occasionally worked with the remaining avengers before eventually departing the planet, where she would be summoned back to midgard by wong along with countless others in the fight against thanos.

“a bit quiet out there.” the groans had died down roughly a half hour back, leaving the two of them in the deafening silence to rest before attempting to regroup with the rest of their team. her hands are still cold to the touch, having nearly overused her cryokinetic abilities out in the field, but she should recover soon enough once they’ve been extracted.

“you alright over there?” sera was pretty sure that she asked before, but it never hurts to make sure. the brunette was sure that the both of them got tossed around quite a bit before finally dealing with the giant monstrosity. now they have to possibly deal with a lot more zombies that may have stumbled in after all that.

she’s going to need a good drink after this.

“wake up, brother dear!” the blanket was pulled before sera went to open the window, letting the light illuminate the room. the witcher was dressed, looking very invigorated despite the two of them drinking enough alcohol to put down several bears. “we need to leave within the hour if we want to make it to the next village by the end of the day, otherwise we’re sleepin’ out in the woods.”

 sera wouldn’t mind it, she tends to love the outdoors, but the brunette knows that her sibling prefers the comforts of an actual bed. “if you’re not up by the time i come back, i’m throwing you out of the window.” not that she would, but she would make sure that jaskier was out of the bed by then.

“so what do they call you?” she had been in the middle of dealing with a group of bandits that had been harassing a small village when the presence she picked up in the tree line finally decided to say hello so to speak. the witcher appreciated the help though she could’ve managed just fine, probably with a bit more holes than necessary, but it’s nothing she’s dealt with before.

“i mean, most people don’t usually tend to help my kind.” the last word came out more bitter than she anticipated, her anger always quickly to rise whenever she thinks about the injustice that her fellow witchers have to deal with, though with jaskier’s lyrical praises, it’s become somewhat easier.

still pisses her off though.

the tavern was busy, patrons strewn about while one of the city’s bards was playing off to the side, hand clasped around her drink, the witcher tilted her head to the side as she listened. the brunette can feel glances in her direction, no doubt because of the swords sitting by her side on the floor, easily within reach if anyone dared to try and touch’em.

though there was one gaze that felt particularly intense.

she didn’t search the crowds, instead sera kept her eyes in the bard’s direction, watching him bounce around the floor to the flow of his music. if that person wanted to talk, perhaps hire her for a job, then she would just wait for them to approach.
