Lysa grinned, resting her chin in her palm as she listened to him go on and on about her bangs. âIf that was meant to shut up my nine-year-old self and her irrelevant opinions, it was definitely a success. Though Iâm afraid you lost her at cottage-core,â she pointed out with a light chuckle, appreciating every kind word and teasing joke that came out of his mouth. âTry hair salon at three in the afternoon after my mom told me my foreheadâs too big. I mean, she wasnât wrong, but.. I think I wouldâve preferred to hear it from middle school mean girls like normal people.â Huffing out a small laugh, she brushed her fingers through her bangs, puffing them up with the tips. She didnât think she wouldâve made the joke, or confession or whatever it was, with anyone else, but it didnât even come close to feeling weird or distasteful as she smiled up at him. âYou do realize that Iâm gonna need a detailed schedule of your upcoming gigs now, right? Or a private concert if you donât play at all right now. I mean, sure, Iâm gonna check out your Spotify the respectful two minutes after weâve parted ways, but live musicâs live music.â Him mentioning photoshoots and magazine spreads, even if it was in a negative light, got her thinking of a possible portrait piece. Theyâd discussed starting a series on local celebrities and she felt like Winter would be perfect for it. For now, it was just an idea though, one she wasnât even going to bring up. Not before she had all the details, and she could be sure itâd be just as enjoyable for him as it would be for her. She let out a small laugh as he talked about his sister, still finding it hard to believe sheâd seen her at a random coffee shop a few months back. âYeah, she told me about him a little bit. Still, wow! Summer Evans has a son. Winter Evans has a nephew. Makes me so happy. Though I kind of want to see you in your uncle element now. Are you âthe cool uncleâ?â Lysa beamed back at him as he offered his congratulations, answering with an enthusiastic nod. âAbsolutely, I canât see why not. I mean weâre not Google or anything, we donât have ball pits and slides, but thereâs a pretty great art wall and weâve got one of these standing treadmill desks too.â Her smile got even wider when he asked about her relationship, shaking her head with a small chuckle at the list of details he demanded. âWell, his name is Hunter and heâs a writer. Tall, handsome, great smile. Even greater character. We met a nursery when I was buying flowers and.. Iâve been completely smitten ever since. As cheesy as it sounds, itâs like he was written for me. Make fun of me for that all you want.âÂ
âOuch.â It was the first comment that he could think of after learning the reason behind her getting her bangs. Though he knew better than anyone what growing up with a mom who majored in backhanded compliments and was fluent in the art of âiâm just being honestâ. Where Lysa seemed to give in just to keep the peace, Winter took to becoming everything his mother hated. It was like if he told him not to do something, he went out of his way to do the thing she specifically asked him not to. But itâs how they coped. âThereâs not really a schedule, nor any shows. But I am still recording, had a home studio built for it. So youâre more than welcome to a studio tour, and a sit it on a recording session. Just as long as you promise to be brutally honest on what you hear. I didnât get this far by having people lie to me on my pretentious lyrics, and sad boy riffs.â He offered with a soft laugh finding that he was actually pretty eager to have Lysa take a look at where he worked. And not only where he worked, but also to hear what he had been working on. âCould I ever be anything but the cool uncle? I mean look at me. I reek of irresponsible fun and break rules his mom set. And itâs not like his mom can get rid of me which makes it even better.â He chuckled. Though it was hard for him to admit it out loud, but he adored the little boy. Wanting to make sure he grew up without the terrible influence of their parents. Which he found was getting a little hard to avoid seeing how stubborn Summer was about accepting his help instead of their parents. âAnd here I was completely in it for a ballpit. I would so donate the money to get you guys a ballpit. But iâll still look forward to itâ He was only half joking about the ballpit. His hands coming together in a loud clap as she speaks to him. âHunter, wow. Thatâs a name isnât it? You met at a nursery? Sweet jesus. Written for you? Iâm the song writer, Iâm suppose to be the cheesy one out of the two of us. Which, Iâm completely stealing this material.â He teased with a soft laugh. âNo jokes though, Iâm happy for you. Really. Itâs easy to see how happy he makes you, youâre literally glowing. Itâs blinding. Could you tone that down for me?â He laughed giving her a soft nudge.
