Taeminās BOLD FACED lying !!!!!!!!
rewriting old works are so cathartic
I follow the "leave nothing but footprints take nothing but photos" rule of state/national parks yeah because conservation. But also because when I was 11 i read a short story about a girl who went to a museum and stole a bandage flake off a mummy on display with the mentality of "im just one person one piece won't be missed" then at night she was visited by the mummy and it plucked a single hair from her head and then the next night a different mummy took another hair and she realized that there were only so many pieces to her before there would be nothing left and that story was forever wedged in my brain. Anyways leave cool rocks where you find them or the mummies will get you

MARC SPECTOR becoming MOON KNIGHT Moon Knight | S01E05 Ā· Asylum
You are a worthy candidate to serve me during this time. In exchange for your life, do you swear to protect the travelers of the night and bring my vengeance to those who would do them harm? Yes. Then rise. Rise and live again. As my fist of vengeance. As my Moon Knight.

MEGAN THEE STALLION HIGHSNOBIETY | Spring ā22 Issue (photographed by Luke Gilford)
are ppl seriously arguing over whether or not pedro pascal is white again??
tl;dr:Ā it is way more of a nuanced answer than yes or no. whiteness is perceived and defined very differently across *all*Ā latin countries on top of how whiteness is defined in the USA
also, if you are not latin american, this is not a conversation for you to participate in
iām latino. iām from south mexico, born there, raised in the US. iām not white.
keep in mind, the caste system is a big big reason everyone is trying to label pedro as white or not, and, if ppl arenāt aware, latin america is so mixed bc of colonization. we donāt have a single race, latin americans are and can be anything and everything between white, indigenous, black, asian, arab, etc. etc. etc. not to mention, its just as possible that in different places within the same country, youād be labeled a different race completely dependent on what your heritage is, which we donāt know abt pedro pascal as fans!!
& that comment he made about being white, please understand this is a cultural thing. often times weāll create or go by nicknames based on our physical features. if youāve seen encanto, youāll see within the same family people can look very different. being called white in this regard is more of a comparison to the people around you than actually being a white person. youāre lighter than others, so youāre fondly called white, but youāre still not A White Person.
again, iām not white, i wasnāt born in the US, but i *did*Ā grow up here, and i share pretty similar features and experiences to pedro. weāre paler and can be confused for being white by other latin americans (and even then, itās dependent on how much sun iāve gotten bc lol this is a pretty Of Color thing!), but i really donāt perceive him as a white man. i do not share any experiences with whiteness or white privilege, i have neverĀ been clocked as white by white americans, and i imagine if i had gotten my parentsā other last names no one would be able to pronounce them right, which pedro pascal has talked about why he dropped one of his surnames!
do yāall think diego luna or oscar isaac are white?Ā lin-manuel miranda?Ā this is the thing about being ethnically ambiguous, yāall. we can be light-skinned or pale and still not be white
interesting conversation to arise, and while i agree that the concept of race is heavily surrounded by whiteness (or lack thereof; white people created race!!), I have to respectfully disagree with some of the arguments made.
i am, by blood quantum, fully puerto rican. my features have led others to believe that i am a biracial black woman, a non-hispanic, that is. my partner is also puerto rican. he is dark-skinned, and has been mistaken for a non-hispanic black man. we both identify as black hispanics, afro-latines, whichever really fits the bill. both of my sisters are pale skinned. they identify as white hispanics. my mother is also a white hispanic, born in puerto rico, spanish as a first language. i also consider lin-manuel miranda to be a white hispanic, to reference opās post. you can fully be white and also be hispanic. itās not a bad thing. race and ethnicity are two different things.
i do think that self-identification is important, but i also believe there is no such thing as a white-passing hispanic. you are a white hispanic, a black hispanic, an indigenous hispanic, or something else that iām failing to mention.
as an actress, i believe ethnic/racial ambiguity is also created by white people, to allow those who are white to be able to āpassā as other ethnicities but also to avoid being held accountable for the lack of proper poc representation in media (i.e. allowing a hispanic to play roles that are not intended for them simply because they ālook the partā)
as someone who has suffered the consequences of racism and colorism in the latinx community (some from my own family if i may add), it is a little disheartening to see some hispanics reject their whiteness while also rejecting the beauty of the diversity in their culture. itās overall very harmful to the afro-latinx community as a whole.
yes, it is important to highlight your ethnicity and your culture, but at the end of the day white (or paler) hispanics benefit from white privilege. a cop would not know my sister is puerto rican if they pulled her over until they read her license and see her last name. i do not have the same liberty. my father does not have the same liberty.
i agree that we donāt know much about a personās heritage simply by looking at them!!! itās important not to label people incorrectly. however, the subject of race is a complicated subject to navigate when you bring in ethnicity as an added identification. this is why some white hispanics and even indigenous hispanics believe they can still say the n word, which i disagree with wholeheartedly.
i think this is a good thing that op is bringing the conversation to question, i think more people should talk about this!!
okay so I'm having a debate with my flatmates
are these all different things and if so what do you call them
