If youโre seeing this post, youโve likely already read the news that she was held at gunpoint in the apartment she was staying at in Paris at 3 a.m. last night. As more details unfold, itโs being reported that the robbersโwho were hidden behind ski masks and police uniformsโstole $10 million worth of jewelry from her room. That might sound like an unbelievable number to you, but listen up: This isnโt the issue. Ever since the news broke, people have been taking to Twitter to post what they call jokes, totally dehumanizing the situation. What these people seem to forget is that Kim Kardashian is a mother, a wife, a sister, a friend. Being held at gunpoint and robbed in the middle of the night is not a situation to mock under any circumstance. Fame is something โregular peopleโ like us donโt truly understand. Just last week, the same man who bizarrely lifted @gigihadid off from her feet in front of the paparazzi also tried groping Kim. Even then, reporters were calling the stranger a โprankster.โ Is this really something we can call a prank? Luckily, she had her bodyguard with her and he handled the situation, but is this the world we live in? Where celebrities are just figures we can do whatever we want to? Yes, we openly social media-stalk these people, but theyโre human beings just like the rest of us. Whether youโre into Kim or not, I ask you to please stop contributing to the hate, and have some respect. The world is full of very real, serious issues right now. Instead of crafting jokes about someone being traumatized, let's use that energy to raise awareness about the protests in Southern California or the upcoming historic election, and to come up with ways to make this world a more peaceful place.
